Astute’s Power team is partnering with an EPC Contractor to recruit a Scaffold / Temporary Works Coordinator on a long-term contract for its West Midlands site. The Scaffold Temp Work Coordinator role comes with competitive day rate.                   Key skills  
  • Demonstrate leadership and commitment to Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW). Actively encourages and lead contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSW requirements.
    • Ensures that all relevant HSW requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management and HSW team, HSW hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
    • Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSW requirements, and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS.
    • Responsible for the safety and HSW performance of all personnel under their control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised.
    • Ensure works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract and conform with project time and budget requirements.
    • Act as the principal contact in the co-ordination of all scaffolding equipment on site.
    • Chair co-ordination meetings between the various contractors on site to ensure the minimum hindrance to the construction work.
    • Ensure all scaffolding operations are planned, organised, and undertaken by competent persons.
    • Ensure that the scaffolding equipment is positioned and installed so, as to minimise any risks e. g. from the load falling or striking people.
    • Ensure that scaffolding equipment is suitable for the proposed use and is marked with any appropriate information to be taken its safe use into account.
    • Ensure that scaffolding equipment and scaffolding accessories are subject to a periodic thorough examination to confirm they are fit for purpose.
    • Design and pre-plan the scaffold including weight limitations, scaffold type, fall protection, tie-offs, supports, etc.
    • Must hold Mechanical TW (Temporary Works) experience
  • Must hold NAECI experience.
  • Hold a CISRS card.
  • Hold SSSTS or equivalent.
  • Hold experience in large construction projects.

Commissioning Shift Operator

Commissioning Shift Operator Start date - Jan 2024 Day rate - £400.00 to £440.00 (Outside IR35) Locations - Slough  Duration - 6 months About The Role We are currently recruiting for Commissioning Shift Operators to join the EPC Contractor on a fast paced new build Waste to Energy facilities based in Slough. Role responsibilities for the Commissioning Shift Operator positions reporting to the Commissioning Manager:
  • Ensures works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with contract requirements, and conform with project time, budget and Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) requirements
  • Supports the commissioning team in all mechanical issues (filter cleaning and exchange, greasing, dismount pumps, replenish consumables etc.
  • Maintains all mechanical tools in a clean state and ready to use
  • Maintains and cleans the equipment of the plant
  • Reports any variations and issues to the Commissioning Manager
  • Liaises and coordinates with other project team members, in particular the Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Lead Engineers and shift team leaders.
  • Operate and control power generating equipment, including boilers, turbines, generators, reactors etc using semi automated control system and standalone equipment control panels
  • Control, operate, and maintain plant within the limits of the environmental operational permit
  • Control, operate and maintain plant to produce required electrical output
  • Control, operate and maintain plant to complete cold and hot commissioning in line with company and supplier procedures Control and maintain auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, fans, compressors, condensers, feedwater pumps, pre-heaters, filters, demineralised water plant etc, to supply water, fuel, lubricants, air, and auxiliary power
  • Carry out all operations in line with company procedures and guidelines Regulate equipment and conditions such as water levels, waste feeding, steam pressure etc based on data from field instrumentation and DCS Carry out required maintenance tasks in the field and record completion of maintenance tasks in shift books
  • Collect samples as required by the commissioning manager or lead engineer i.e. water, oil, waste, IBA etc
  • Inspect records, handover notes, and shift book entries, and communicate with other plant personnel to assess equipment operating status.
  • Communication with shift team leader in relation to any items which indicate unstable operation of the plant
  • Delivers Lessons Learned and feedback for current and future projects
  • Keeps the Commissioning Manager / Site Manager informed of all site-related activities
Qualifications and skills required for the Commissioning Shift Operator roles:
  • Knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal and management system requirements
  • Valid Safety Contractors Certificate (SCC), Safepass (ROI), CSCS or CCNSG card or equivalent
  • Solution oriented

  • Ability to present ideas effectively
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years as a Control Room Operator (CRO), preferably in plants utilizing waste as fuel, biomass incineration, or fossil fuel technology, with proven knowledge of power plant equipment and systems.

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Project Planner/Document Controller to work with the EPC contractor on a new build OCGT plant based in Stewartby, Milton Keynes.  The role of Project Planner is to create, maintain and review the main project master plan, and make changes were necessary.

Roles & Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Project Site Manager, as a Planner/Document Controller you will be responsible for:

  • Interface with inspections, projects, and turnaround teams to ensure all requirements are understood and achieved.
  • Prepare and report weekly on progress of each individual job
  • Ensure packs received have a clear and defined work-scope.
  • Provide accurate upfront task durations and costings.
  • Promote teamwork between groups, to achieve group and refinery goals.
  • Lead and attend planning and P6 scheduling meetings with each refinery group as required.
  • P6 schedule compliance.
  • Bring new ideas, to improve planning systems already in place.
  • Accuracy of Primavera P6 planning and tracking through excel spreadsheets.

 

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Proficient use of Primavera P6.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Ability to collate and interrogate data.
  • Proficient in use of all relevant SAP modules.
  • Analytical Skills.
  • Proven level of competence in previous planning position, preferably oil refinery based.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
