  • Mentor the commercial team where required promoting CPD, etc.
  • Oversee all assigned commercial accounts in line with the R&Rs outlined below.

  • Demonstrates leadership and commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ)
  • Intervenes in a strong and persuasive manner in HSE matters on site
  • Can competently advise on HSE matters at all levels within the project organisation
  • Provide technical support to the persons responsible for safety on the construction sites
  • Administers the permit to work process when required
  • Undertakes Level 1 accident investigations to a high standard and produce internal reports

Project Manager

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a cable solutions provider to recruit a Project Manager for its site in Dunbar on a permanent basis.              Key skills  
  • Manage and oversee the execution to completion of the project.
  • Awareness to specific site characteristics (topography, landscape, environmental and ecological constraints, current infrastructure, sustainability, health and safety)
  • Work closely with the design and wider team to manage and develop any necessary Scope of Works, Division of Responsibilities, Employer and or Client Requirements and Technical Specifications for Onshore Cable works.
  • Interface extensively with the client’s offshore cable team to manage the interface of the cable landfall.
  • Actively manage to appointment any required subcontract requirements, specifically HHD/Civils.
  • Source, review, appoint any such required consultants and/or internal colleagues to develop and carry out pre-condition surveys.
  • Interface, liaison and coordination with any parties responsible for coinciding works.
  • Organise and chair project update meetings with any relevant stakeholder/parties.
  • Must have proven experience in a similar position within Power/Energy/Renewables construction projects with ideally a HV (High Voltage) background.
  • Hold an understanding / background in construction civil engineering.
  • Must have strong communication skills with an ability to engage with clients
  • Must be flexible to travel to other sites for project meetings from time to time.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading principal contractor who are looking to recruit a Civil Quantity Surveyor with an engineering background on a long-term contract for its Wastewater Treatment project in North east of London.        Key skills required for the Civil Quantity Surveyor    
  • Supervise and verify compliance with quality standards during the construction phase of the wastewater treatment plant.
  • Ensure that civil engineering works comply with applicable international regulations, project specifications, and internal quality standards.
  • Implement quality control plans and internal auditing processes to ensure consistency and performance of on-site activities.
  • Review and approve quality documents, including procedures and inspections.
  • Review contractual aspects with the client to coordinate claims.
  • Conduct internal audits of the project to identify any deviations.
  • Ensure proper execution of material and construction process quality inspections.
  • Must hold excellent communication skills to manage relationships at various levels with the client and other disciplines involved in project execution
  • Must have a background as a Qualified Engineer / Engineering background
  • Hold around 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a similar sector / large industrial projects and understand international regulations related to Civil Engineering projects.
