Astute’s Power team is looking to recruit a P6 Planner on a pipework installation project in Hertfordshire on a 9-12 month contact basis for a start in November.     Key skills required for the P6 Planner:    

• Working with the PM and pipe coordinators to create a resource loaded baseline (contract) schedule in Primavera P6.
• Progress will be measured using physical percent complete. User defined fields will establish the physical percent complete by recording meters installed against individual sub-system total meterage’s.
• Record progress and monitor performance against scheduled percent complete. 
• Manage the schedule daily, record delays by intersecting activities with delay durations inserted as activities to assist commercial EOT claims.
• Carry out routine critical path analysis and identify mitigation measures to recover any negative float / delays.
• Produce look ahead schedules as identified by the contract and / or requested by the Project Manager.
• Produce progress / quantity curves for weekly reports.
• Experience on piping or pipework scope of works will be highly beneficial
• Must have CSCS Card or able to obtain one.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Electrical Subcontractor on an Energy from Waste project to recruit a Senior Electrical Engineer on a 10 month contract for its West Midlands site.    The Electrical Engineer role comes with a day rate of £450 per day.      Key skills 

•  Identify and address technical challenges devising innovative solutions.
• Maintain accurate electrical system activity records, generated technical reports, and documented changes for transparency.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in electrical engineering, applying new knowledge to enhance project outcomes.
• Provide technical expertise during construction meetings and discussions, addressing electrical related queries and making informed recommendations.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a modular building contractor to recruit a Site Manager on a short-term contract basis for its site in Basildon from December 2025. The Site Manager role comes with a day rate of between £350 per day (CIS).              Key skills  

• Overseeing site day-to-day activities and installation of modular builds
• Adhering to HSE requirements
• Ensuring transport and deliveries are kept on top of on site
• Liaison with the Site and Office teams regularly
• Raise and Sign-off permits
• Must ideally hold modular build experience
• Must be flexible for weekend working occasionally 
• Must hold an CSCS and SMSTS

The Civil Site Supervisor role comes with a rate between £400-£500 per day.                     Key skills:

• Take full ownership of Civil Operations in delegate section.
• Determine Civil QC Inspection process and report on execution progress, reporting to Civil Construction Manager.
• Hold execution meetings.
• Ensure look ahead regarding design and relevant drivers, interfacing with Civil Contract Manager on commercial issues.
• Must have previous experience as a Supervisor for a Principal Contractor or Civil Subcontractor.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading principal contractor in the Energy from Waste sector to recruit a Commissioning Shift Team Leader on a 6 month contract for its Scotland site. The Commissioning Shift Team Leader role comes with a day rate of £550.             Key skills  

• Ensure that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management, HSE and commissioning team, HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
• Prepare and issue permits to Work and system isolations for works within the shift
• Ensure that works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract and conform with project time requirements
• Independently operate, monitor, and maintain systems according to the scope of responsibility, in the control room and on site
• Update and maintain shift logs and maintenance regimes
• Overseeing the work performed by shift personnel and suppliers during operation
• Liaise and coordinate with other project team members, in particular the Commissioning Manager and Commissioning Lead Engineers
• Records all operational events in the shift logbook

• Demonstrate leadership and commitment to Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW). Actively encourages and lead contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSW requirements.
  • Ensures that all relevant HSW requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management and HSW team, HSW hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
  • Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSW requirements, and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS.
  • Responsible for the safety and HSW performance of all personnel under their control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised.
  • Ensure works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract and conform with project time and budget requirements.
  • Act as the principal contact in the co-ordination of all scaffolding equipment on site.
  • Chair co-ordination meetings between the various contractors on site to ensure the minimum hindrance to the construction work.
  • Ensure all scaffolding operations are planned, organised, and undertaken by competent persons.
  • Ensure that the scaffolding equipment is positioned and installed so, as to minimise any risks e. g. from the load falling or striking people.
  • Ensure that scaffolding equipment is suitable for the proposed use and is marked with any appropriate information to be taken its safe use into account.
  • Ensure that scaffolding equipment and scaffolding accessories are subject to a periodic thorough examination to confirm they are fit for purpose.
  • Design and pre-plan the scaffold including weight limitations, scaffold type, fall protection, tie-offs, supports, etc.
  • Must hold Mechanical TW (Temporary Works) experience
• Must hold NAECI experience.
• Hold a CISRS card.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading principal contractor in the water treatment sector who are looking to recruit a Commercial Associate / Assistant on a 18-month minimum contract for its London site.      The Commercial Associate / Assistant role comes with a competitive day rate.      Key skills required for the Commercial Associate / Assistant   

• Have regard for the contract procedures requiring formal notices, time limits and other parameters.
• Ensure that the Project Team is fully aware of the prevalent constraints, conditions and contractual environment.
• Ensure that proper mechanisms for risk transfer to subcontractors and insurance providers are identified and enforced.
• Always protect the contractual position, enforcing the notification regime of the Contract. This is an NEC IChem E hybrid contract in the water industry including Compensation event management.
• Prepare submissions for Contractual Claims / Compensation events and other contractually allowable relevant events.
• Fully monitor and report exposure to Liquidated Damages.
• Must hold experience in large construction projects, managing complex contract in the UK with NEC IchemE experience.
• Ideal qualifications as either BSc Civil, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or Quantity Surveyor
