Industrial Electrical Installer

Astute’s Power team is partnering with an Electrical Sub-contractor who are looking to recruit Industrial Electrical Installers on a project in Pembroke for a minimum of 2 months with hourly rates Monday – Friday at £28.00 per hour. Weekends available at an uplifted rate and also accommodation costs covered.        Key skills required for the Industrial Electrical Installers:    
  • Interpret and work from detailed installation drawings and specifications.
  • Install cable containment systems such as ladder racking, traywork, conduit, and trunking in accordance with BS 7671 and project-specific requirements.
  • Ensure mechanical supports are correctly spaced, aligned, and secure to maintain system integrity.
  • Pull, route, and install low voltage, control, and instrumentation cables through containment systems.
  • Carry out glanding and termination of SWA, AWA, and multi-core cables with precision using correct tools and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with cable sizing, voltage drop, and segregation requirements.
  • Conduct electrical testing including continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, loop impedance using calibrated instruments.
  • Complete test result documentation in line with BS 7671, GN3, and NICEIC/ECA requirements.
  • Support the commissioning team in the energization and functional verification of electrical systems.
  • Assist in load testing, motor rotation checks, and control circuit verification.
  • Confirm system performance aligns with design intent and client requirements.
  • Work to current IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and follow Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
  • Apply safe isolation procedures, lock-off/tag-out methods, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Adhere to RAMS, COSHH assessments, and all site-specific HSE procedures.
  • Use technical knowledge to identify solutions to on-site installation challenges.
  • Liaise with engineers, supervisors, and clients to ensure smooth coordination of works.
  • Accurately complete electrical installation certificates and minor works certificates.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

  • Demonstrates leadership and commitment to HSEQ. Actively encourages and leads the HZI and contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements
  • Ensures that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management and HSE team, HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
  • Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements, and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS
  • Is responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under their control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised
  • Implements standardized methods in order to identify complex problems
  • Supports pro-actively the project team to achieve objectives

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Job specific qualification:

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Experienced as supervisor in construction of large industrial plant
  • Experienced in the co-ordination of contracts / contractors on site
  • Experienced as a leader of HSEQ and has knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal and management system requirements
  • Knowledge of relevant international and national technical standards
  • Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), valid Safety Contractors Certificate or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite applications

The Role

Our Client is a leading EPC in the renewable energy field and Power Generation sector, who are consistently bidding and gaining new projects in the Energy from Waste sector in the UK. Currently they have a requirement for a Lead Commissioning Engineers to lead a team of Engineers and Technicians throughout the commissioning of the project. We are looking for candidates with building services experience. 

As Lead Commissioning Engineer, you will bring demonstrable commissioning experience and practical skills to the commissioning team. Working closely with the Commissioning team, you will be responsible for planning, executing and documenting of commissioning and handover activities on the project and programme of works in a safe manner, fully in accordance with company processes, systems, procedures and specifications. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Working in collaboration with the construction team, ensuring that commissioning activities are planned safely and to required quality standards and specifications
  • Providing appropriate support throughout the commissioning phase of the project
  • Updating of commissioning documentation including site reports and assisting with O&M manuals
  • Carrying out and recording of all commissioning tests
  • Liaising with onsite subcontractors where necessary
  • Reporting to the Project Director and Commissioning Manager and updating relevant personnel on site progress 
  • Adhered to health and safety regulations and reporting any incidents appropriately.

Requirements:

  • Commissioning experience gained within Energy from Waste, Biomass, and Gasification projects. 
  • Proven track record in a similar role and ability to communicate well at all levels
  • Building Services experience
  • Ability to work well independently and as well as part of a team
