• Demonstrates leadership and commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ)
• Intervenes in a strong and persuasive manner in HSE matters on site
• Can competently advise on HSE matters at all levels within the project organisation
• Provide technical support to the persons responsible for safety on the construction sites
• Administers the permit to work process when required
• Undertakes Level 1 accident investigations to a high standard and produce internal reports
• Undertake internal inspections and audits of the standards of HSE on site and the work practices employed
• Liaises with other HSE professionals (both internal and external) to achieve a positive HSE culture
• Provides regular HSE training / information for new employees
• Undertakes site HSE inductions on an ongoing basis
• Assists in emergency response at site · Assists in the organisation of medical examinations (i.e. drug and alcohol testing, etc) of all staff on site
• Must be flexible to work nights and days
• Ideally hold experience within the Energy from Waste sector
• Must hold NEBOSH

Civil Site Supervisor (Cladding) – Energy from Waste Fife £400-£450 Per Day 12 Months March 2024     About the role: Astute’s Power team are exclusively partnering with an EPC Contractor to recruit a Civil Site Supervisor on a 12-month contract for a site in Fife. The Civil Site Supervisor role comes with a rate between £400-£500 per day.                     Key skills:

• Take full ownership of Civil Operations in delegate section.
• Determine Civil QC Inspection process and report on execution progress, reporting to Civil Construction Manager.
• Hold execution meetings.
• Ensure look ahead regarding design and relevant drivers, interfacing with Civil Contract Manager on commercial issues.
• Must have previous experience as a Supervisor for a Principal Contractor or Civil Subcontractor.
• Must hold University degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

• Carry out Electrical works on site, this will include working on High Voltage systems.
• Supervise subcontractors on site, ensure their work is completed to the required standard and in a safe and efficient manner.

• Demonstrate leadership regarding HSEQ on site, actively encourages and leads others to comply with project HSEQ requirements

• Keep the Site Manager informed of activities on site and progress change requests (technical, time and costs).

    Professional qualifications: We are looking for someone with the following:

• An Electrical Engineering qualification such as HNC/HND or Degree
• SSSTS / SCS or similar valid Safety Contractors Certificate
• Experience supervising construction of a large industrial plant
• Knowledge of Pressure Parts, ATEX knowledge and experience on High Voltage (11kV / 33kV) equipment 
• Relevant HSEQ knowledge relevant to industrial construction sites

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Principal Contractor in the Energy from Waste sector to recruit a Remeasurement Quantity Surveyor on a 24 months contract for its West Midlands site. The Remeasurement Site Quantity Surveyor role comes with a flexible day rate.             Key skills  

• Responsible for the measurement and valuation of selected subcontract packages
• Measures and evaluates changes from revised drawings and site inspection at regular intervals in accordance with the contractual measurement rules and rates and standard methods of measurement.
• Develop and issue sound, accurate cost reports, accurately reflecting the financial position of each package and forecast commercial status and cash flow, including interface with CAPRI and SAP. Identify trends and implement the requisite actions. Identify variances and explain the cause and potential effect and where necessary implement mitigation measures to reduce the impact.
• Participate in or run regular technical and commercial site meetings, issue minutes of meeting.
• Document commercial aspects of any change / deviation /claim in PIRS working collaboratively with the technical work package holder, project procurement, scheduling, site management.  Early recognition and maximisation of opportunities . Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation measures in consultation with the work package holders.
• Responsible for the claim management for designated subcontract packages, establish a strategy of dealing with claims and diligently collate all the necessary supporting documentation, assesses counter- claim potential in close coordination with the relevant work package holder and other staff.
• Leads subcontract commercial negotiations and account meetings, including preparation of subcontract final accounts (remeasured as required).
• Carry out procurement of minor works / finishing works packages with support and input from head office personnel
• Provide return of experience per contract package through ongoing feedback to head office, and final account close out reports including lessons learnt.
• Must have remeasurement experience measuring quantities of work undertaken.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading insulation subcontractor in the Energy from Waste sector to recruit Thermal Insulation Engineers on a 10-month contract for its Essex site. The Thermal Insulation Engineer role comes with an hourly rate of £21.00.             Key skills  

• Preparing areas on site to be insulated
• Fitting insulations to engineering plans
• Secure and fasten insulation and sealing work areas after
• Work closely with Thermal Insulation Labourer on day -to – day basis
• Adhere to all general H&S on site
• Must hold TICA /NVQ and either CSCS / CCNSG
• Site experience in either Oil & Gas, Energy, Nuclear, Waste Management or similar

•  Act as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, craftspeople and operatives
•  Set out, level and survey the site
•  Check plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations
•  Liaise with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project
• Carry out day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors - this is site-specific and may not be the case on all projects.
• Must be flexible to work between 20-30 hours per week
• Energy from Waste (EfW) or similar industry experience will be highly beneficial
