Senior Quantity Surveyor   Permanent Northeast London £65,000-£70,000 + Benefits About the role: Astute’s Power team is currently partnering with an EPC Contractor on a new build Energy from Waste facility to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor for its Northeast London site. The Senior Quantity Surveyor role comes with a flexible salary from £65,000 - £70,000 + plus pension, life assurance, private health care and a great holiday package. Responsibilities and duties:
  • Reporting to the Subcontracts & Commercial Managers you will:
  • Be aware of the subcontract’s status and scope and report to Project Team.
  • Develop and maintain Correspondence Log with the Subcontractors and inform of any changes on Cost of Time from/to sub-contractors that may become a Client Change Order.
  • Suggest corrective actions from/to sub-contractors that would be effective on time and cost.
  • Ensure all BOQ are updated in line with the last IFC drawings received.
  • Inform both Project Team and Subcontractors about FEWO (Field Extra Work) procedure.
  • Inform to Subcontractors about approval or contractual reasons for rejection and/or modification of any submitted FEWO.
  • Develop and maintain the FEWO Log for Subcontractors under your control.
  • Evaluate and study under contractual basis, all the Compensation Event (CE) submitted by the Subcontractors; this activity will be coordinated with the Construction team.
  • Inform to the Subcontractor, about the approval or the contractual reasons for the rejection and/or modification of any CE submitted.
  • Develop and maintain the CE Log for the subcontracts under his/her control.
  • Inform to the Project team about the Bach-charges (BC) procedure.
  • Prepare the BC Notices to the Subcontractors and ensure the contra-charges are applied.
  • Inform to the Project team and Subcontractors about the Contradictory Price (CP) procedure.
  • Evaluate and study under the contractual basis, all CP submitted by the Subcontractor.
  • Develop and maintain the CP Log for the subcontracts under your control.
  • Inform to the Subcontractor, about the approval or the contractual reasons for the rejection and/or modification of any PA submitted.
  • Issue of the Payment Certificates (PC) to the Subcontractors.
Professional qualifications: We are looking for someone with the following:
  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent (BSc Quantity Surveying preferred)
  • Main Contractor experience desired
  • Knowledge of building and construction.
  • To be based at Site (London, UK)
  • Project experience within Energy from Waste, OCGT, CCGT, Power Stations.

The Civil Design Coordinator role comes with a salary of £55,000-£60,000, pension, life and disability insurance and other bonus packages.   • Be responsible for managing the design processes of subcontractors within the civil works on site.
  • Be responsible for the civil works to be executed in accordance with the contract, and conform with project time, budget, HSE and quality requirements.
  • Be responsible for managing the design interface with external and/or in-house design teams and you pro-actively establish the design release schedule and monitor the design progress to ensure agreed target milestones are met and mitigate risk and delays.
  • Be able evaluate the design provided by others and facilitate technically profound construction solutions with consideration to the complexity of works.
  • Represent the civil design department, when necessary, at internal and external meetings with limited travelling (up to 10% of your time).

Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering or architecture.
  • Hold at least 5 years’ experience in the construction industry (preferably Energy from Waste).
  • Hold strong experience in civil project management and design coordination.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a Principal Contractor in the Energy from Waste sector to recruit a Site Scheduler on a 12-month contract for its Kent site.    The Site Scheduler role comes with a competitive day rate.       Key skills    
  • Be aware of all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) requirements relevant to their role, and implements and complies with them
  • Generates accurate Site System Time Schedules (S-STS) for the execution phase on site, based on an overall project time schedule
  • Builds a Site System Time Schedule as an integrated construction project
  • Controls schedule, based on contract scope requirements. This should Thr The establish optimal work sequences, in co-operation with all those involved in the scope
  • Integrates all activities for the M&E construction and commissioning functions
  • Manages schedules between internal partners, customers if applicable, consortium and external partners
  • Supports the Construction Manager by collection of on-site progress reports
  • Recommends improvements where the site incurs expected delays
  • Follows the monthly update of S-STS through construction execution, expedite Site issues in conjunction with supervisors and/or functional groups as required
  • Updates, prepares and delivers S-STS weekly/monthly schedule progress reports as required by the project
  • Advises Site Manager / Site Coordinator and other functional Site Team members of status and recommended strategies to respond to identified risks and opportunities

BIM Modeller

The BIM Modeller role comes with a annual salary of between £50,000 to £55,000.   • Act as the office administrator for the site including office supplies, filing, organisation of travel, recording and storing of documentation.
  • Act as project assistant for the site team (arrange travel, create documents).
  • Welcome visitors and clients including arranging catering as required
  • Keep the Site Manager informed of all site related activities. 
  • Be aware of all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) requirements relevant to their role and implement and comply with them.
  • Must hold administrative experience within Construction and hold good working knowledge on Microsoft applications
