• Managing all Quality Assurance activities on site
• Writing up ITP’s (Inspection and Test Plan)
• Ensure all snags are cleared on site and all submissions are compliant.
• Work closely with the Principal Contractors Quality Engineer daily.
• Provide operational support to QC checks of incoming materials and support in the management of quality documents of the subcontractors.
• Support to the site quality office for construction and commissioning phases.

•  Performing welding work on single ply membranes (welding)
•  Executing detailed finishing and edge detailing to a high standard

Astute’s Power team looking to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Technician on an OCGT Power Station on a 3/6-month contract basis for its plant in Birmingham from November 2025. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician role comes with a day rate of between £300-350 per day (Inside IR35).             Key skills  

• Responsible for the planned, reactive and breakdown maintenance on mechanical assets such as pumps, gearboxes, valves, gas turbines etc
• Work in line with maintenance techniques and practises
• Assisting in plant developments
• Involved in continuous improvement activities, plant inspections and fault investigation work.
• Liaise with the operations team to ensure plant availability.
• Ideally C&G/NVQ Level 3 minimum in Engineering or Apprentice qualified – Mechanically biased
• Prior experience within heavy process engineering environments such as Power Stations (EfW, Biomass, OCGT/CCGT, CHP)
• Must be familiar with pumps, valves, piping and rotating equipment.

• As an Instrumentation, Control and Automation Supervisor, you will need to hold proven experience in installation and/or commissioning of process instrumentation.
• Must be able to manage technical submittals, FAT/IFAT protocols and client approvals.
• Experience with PMS, SCADA, ICS and network integration.
• Must have strong understanding of safety requirements on live utility sites.
• Must hold a minimum of 5 years’ experience in ICA within utilities, process or water projects.
• Knowledge of fibre optic cabling and testing on major water utility projects highly beneficial.
• Must hold an CSCS Card, SMSTS and EUSR (National Hygiene Card).
• Thames Water Safet Passport highly beneficial to have held also.

• Coordinate civil works design deliverables from subcontractors, working closely with the Lead Engineer for Civils.
• Ensure civil works comply with all contractual, programme, budget, HSE, and quality requirements.
• Manage design interfaces between external consultants and in-house engineering teams, setting release schedules and tracking progress.
• Review and evaluate design submissions to ensure constructability, identify risks, and propose technically sound solutions.
• Represent the civil design function in internal and external meetings, maintaining clear communication across project stakeholders.
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering or Architecture.
• Must have proven experience within construction industry and a proven background in civil project management and design coordination on large scale industrial plant projects.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading principal contractor to recruit a Senior Authorised Person on a Wastewater Treatment project on a 12-month contract for its site in East London.             Key skills  

• Support safe, compliant, and efficient operations across high-voltage electrical systems within the water/utilities sector.
• Act as the appointed SAP for HV operations, ensuring all high-voltage activities are planned and executed safely.
• Supervise, monitor, and provide technical oversight for HV switching operations up to 33kV.
• Must have a Thames Water Safety Passport or able to obtain.
• EUSR National Water Hygiene certificate.
•  Valid ECS or CSCS card.
• HV Systems qualifications (up to 33Kv)
• Must be a competent Person qualified to HNC level (or equivalent) in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Strong working knowledge of HV electrical distribution systems and safety rules.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a successful and leading principal contractor in the Energy from Waste sector to recruit a Civil Project Manager on a 24-month minimum contract for its Ireland site. The Civil Project Manager role comes with a competitive day rate.             Key skills  

• Dual role as Project Construction Manager for Civil works, transitioning into more of Site Manager position for remainder of the project.
•  Lead and encourage contractor teams meeting HSEQ requirements.
• Oversee civil project team
• Define and manage Civil Project scope e.g. Design Scope & WBS
• Take ownership of civil change management and cost control.
• Support subcontractor negotiations and contract administration.
• Must have previous experience as a Civil Construction Manager / Project Manager with either an EPC / Leading Civil Subcontractor
• Must also have experience within Energy from Waste or similar industries.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

• Demonstrates leadership and commitment to HSEQ. Actively encourages and leads the HZI and contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Job specific qualification:

• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree
• Experienced as supervisor in construction of large industrial plant
• Experienced in the co-ordination of contracts / contractors on site
• Experienced as a leader of HSEQ and has knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal and management system requirements
• Knowledge of relevant international and national technical standards
• Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), valid Safety Contractors Certificate or equivalent
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite applications

• Overlook all activities of steel structure beam preassembly, assembly and pre installation

• Ensure back logs plans are finalized
• Must hold an SMSTS
• Leadership experience – 4/5 years minimum
• 2 years minimum steel structure experience
