Aligning and marking workpieces for bending and cutting, accounting for thickness and weld shrinkage
Moving large workpieces manually or using forklifts and overhead cranes
Setting up and operating fabrication equipment including brakes, rolls, shears, grinders, flame cutters, and drill presses
Clamping, heating, grinding, tack-welding, and bolting parts to achieve correct fit
Welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions using manual or semi-automatic equipment
Monitoring fit-up, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating, distortion, or warping
Inspecting completed welds and assemblies to ensure they meet specifications
Operating cranes safely and following all equipment protocols
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
2–5+ years of steel fabrication and welding experience, or demonstrated intermediate/advanced skill level
Knowledge of MIG welding (required)
Certification or degree in welding/fabrication (preferred)
Strong understanding of welding characteristics and physical properties of various metals
Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet for most of the shift
