Our plastics reprocessing facility in Avonmouth, Bristol will reprocess over 80,000 tonnes of plastic every year - more than 1.6 billion bottles, tubs, and trays – creating recycled raw material to return to the economy. Plastic recycling at the facility will save 126,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, the equivalent of taking over 67,000 cars off the road

 

We have a new opportunity for an Execution Engineer to join our team at out new Polymers facility in Avonmouth, Bristol for 42.5 hours pr week, from Monday to Friday.

 

The salary for this role is circa £54,000 per year, plus participation in a yearly bonus scheme, where you could earn up to 10% of your base salary.

 

 

About the role

 

The Execution Engineer will be part of our multi-disciplinary maintenance team and will play an integral role in the delivery of the maintenance strategy at our Avonmouth Polymer Reprocessing Facility. The primary purpose of this role is the effective execution of breakdown and corrective maintenance work, as well as supporting the root cause analysis process to implement preventive actions to improve overall plant availability.

 

Working collaboratively with EC&I engineer, Mechanical Engineer and the Maintenance Planner, the Execution Engineer will lead the site multi-functional maintenance team to execute planned and reactive maintenance activities to ensure machine condition, availability and standards are maintained.

 

The Execution Engineer will provide technical support/governance to ensure improvement projects are executed to the correct standards and in line with site plan, as well as owning the statutory inspections.

 

In addition, this role will be responsible for ensuring a positive safety culture is upheld at all levels and financial targets are met within their department

 

What are we looking for?

 

  • Understanding in a mechanical/electrical engineering role from areas such as FMCG/ manufacturing/ waste management.
  • Full working understanding and ability to lead root cause analysis (RCA) and provide effective engineering solutions
  • Ability to successfully manage and deliver on multiple tasks with competing priorities and strict time lines
  • An experienced Mechanical/Electrical Engineer with relevant background and level of expertise, with a focus on plant maintenance

  • Operating mobile plant and on-site equipment such as Front End Loader, 360 or 180 Excavators.
  • To carry out a variety of manual, machine operated duties across the waste processing site.
  • To ensure the maintenance and operation of all site equipment is carried out in a compliant manner.

  • Supporting in the pre-sorting and sorting of the waste recycling material, feeding material into the processing machinery as required.

Future opportunities for growth and skill development will exist across the wider piping and equipment department and beyond in the expanded EDF operational organization as the project progresses for those candidates with the right attitude and skill set. Successful candidates will start as engineers in one of our piping design teams, working with CAD designers and other team engineers on the timely production of piping design models and deliverables on the HPC Nuclear Island scope, ensuring the piping design is executed accurately, respecting system requirements, specifications and configuration changes. This will frequently involve collaborative work with execution design, procurement and equipment contracts along with other multi-disciplinary design teams to support design delivery in accordance with site construction schedules. Largely being in the post-handover phase of design delivery, our Piping Engineers are responsible for integration of design changes, final equipment design and outstanding open points into the delivered design models. They are expected to contribute to (and where required by seniority manage the team contribution to) the Open Point and UK Design Change management processes for their designated areas, ensuring that impacts to the design are properly categorized and logged prior to their resolution. The engineers are also expected to engage in continuous learning improvement and the identification and correction of non-conformances in the design. Senior engineers within the team will be expected to adopt positions of technical responsibility and coordinate the delivery of engineering teams as required. They are also expected to participate in the mentoring and training of junior team members, and collaboration with parallel disciplines, to maintain the piping design capability of the organisation. They are expected to act as an example of positive behaviours expected from all team members. Exact responsibilities will vary depending on technical scope and level of experience but are expected to include up to the following:  
  • Deliver the piping work packages for UK nuclear projects, ensure adherence to specifications, delivery/design processes and QA, including participation and chairing kick off meetings;
  • Drive maturity of design and closure of issues to agreed delivery schedule, and that the hand-over package fulfils the quality and maturity requirements given by the Project;
  • Report on work pack delivery while managing team-lead and client expectations
  • Mentor junior and new members of the team to ensure delivery quality and growth of team capability
  • Active engagement and pursuit of deliverable quality, process adherence and continuous improvement within the team
  • Adhere to Design Change and Open point management procedures in the execution of design changes and oversee the modelling of piping & support design in the 3D model;
  • Working with CAD designers in the preparation of CAD tasks and completion sign-off;
  • Undertake investigations for emergent design issues, referring to points of technical authority and actively engaging in other teams;
  • Aggressively pursue timely closure of design change contributions from the multi-disciplinary team, escalating issues where appropriate in pursuit of timely delivery of the work packs.
  • Adhere to the design specification and component catalogues
  • Propose technical solutions to issues that are found on the generic design concept;
  • Effectively communicate with the different stakeholders in the design delivery workflow (calculation team, layout, equipment)
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or suitable diploma;
  • Understanding of process plant;
  • Demonstrable track-record of technical work delivery to quality and time;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Very good interpersonal skills;
  • Proactive and self-motivated in completion of tasks;
  • Ability to meet commitments and deadlines;
  • Able to follow project engineering procedures;
  • High level of technical coordination
Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Knowledge of piping engineering and plant design principles in process industries;
  • Prior experience in nuclear piping design delivery to RCC-M nuclear codes
  • Knowledge of EPR Engineering structure and technical management processes
  • Knowledge of Aveva PDMS/E3D or experience with similar plant design packages
