Environmental Advisor Hazardous Waste Management Hybrid Working + UK travel Up to £45,000 including Car Allowance Introduction We are currently recruiting for an Environmental Advisor to join one of the leading hazardous waste management specialists in the UK. The successful candidate will have a significant voice within Augean and their advice will be listened to and will influence the future development of the company. We are looking for an environmental advisor with experience in the waste sector to join our established Corporate Stewardship team, supporting the business on all matters related to environmental compliance, permitting and planning and environmental social and corporate governance (ESG), across our business. This role is vital in providing key advice, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and guidance across the waste planning and permitting spectrum. The knowledge and capability of the successful candidate will contribute to managing Augean’s relationship with the environment and our neighbours, on society and on the economy through the development and implementation of appropriate reduction targets for environmental, social and corporate governance reporting commitments and guiding our path to net zero. The Role The role reports to the Head of Planning and Permitting. The Environmental Advisor will be responsible for:

• Working in the Corporate Stewardship team to provide technical support on all environmental compliance matters across our sites.
• Providing waste compliance advice for new business acquisitions and site development strategies.
• Providing competent and accurate advice to the business on environmental, waste regulatory and waste planning issues, using core knowledge on regulatory requirements and the potential future impacts that changes to legislation or guidance may bring.
• Working regularly with regulators such as the Environment Agency/ SEPA, Local Planning Authorities and the Health and Safety Executive, providing key environmental advice on any issues that arise on behalf of Augean and our clients.
• Building strong working relationships with colleagues and external networks within the waste industry to overcome problems effectively.
• Maintaining up to date working knowledge of relevant waste sector developments, providing technical support documentation for planning or permitting applications and the development of management system procedures.
• Delivering projects to strict deadlines and within required budgetary targets, reporting directly to the Head of Planning and Permitting and the Director of Corporate Stewardship on project progress and workload.
• Continually striving to develop your own knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation, guidance and developments in waste management and environmental matters and a willingness to share this knowledge with others for the benefit of the company.

Location: This role will be home based; however it will involve a mixture of working at home and travel to our offices / sites across England and Scotland. The Candidate To be considered for this position, candidates must have an environmental compliance background within the waste sector. An understanding of the hazardous waste sector would be beneficial. Knowledge of the social and environmental impacts, resource efficiency and carbon saving opportunities and sustainable waste management practices facing the waste sector would also be beneficial. Candidates are likely to have developed previous experience working within the process, waste management or hazardous waste sector; or indirectly as an environmental consultant or regulator. Candidates are expected to be qualified to degree level or equivalent in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Earth Sciences or a similar subject and be a professional member of, or be working towards membership of CIWM, IEMA or another relevant professional body. What will I be doing?

 

The Production Engineers' job function is to provide engineering support to specific aspects of ELGA Labwater Manufacturing facilities in both the UK and China.

 

The Production Engineer’s primary focus will be to take lead responsibility for the product integration from the development engineering phase to the manufacturing environment.

 

Key responsibilities;

• Involved in the early development stage of new product development, working closely with the engineering team to help assess new product suitability for mass production. This will also include improvements to existing product portfolios.
• Identify and produce any bespoke tooling, jigs, or fixtures required for testing and mass production for different teams across the manufacturing facility. e.g, Quality Control, Research & Development.
• Able to visualise and plan processes and layout, stage material flow on the production floor and coordinate primarily mechanical and electrical build activities.
• Produce and update work instructions in order to manufacture products in the most efficient way/lean manufacturing. This will include assembly instruction documents and videos. Training of technicians will also be part of this process.
• Manage new parts and BOMs on new products.
• Work closely with Quality Control to investigate and resolve any quality issues with products/parts. This Quality Assurance process ensures control and traceability to all modifications to ELGA-released products.
• Represents the department and provides critical feedback to project leaders.
• Coordinates actions across departments and may check on quality and work progress.
• Tasks will be time-sensitive to overall project delivery dates.

We are currently seeking a qualified Site Chemist to work with one of the UK’s leading waste management service providers who focus on the disposal and collection of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Working as their  Site Chemist, you will be responsible for supporting the daily operations across the waste facility ensuring efficient and effective sampling, testing and analysis of the waste on-site to ensure safe and compliance processing at all times.

 

The Role

Working as their Site Chemist, you will be responsible for:

• Supporting the team of on-site Chemists, assisting with the hands-on operation of the hazardous waste site ensuring materials coming onto and off-site are consistently safe and are compliant in-line with site permits and environmental regulations.
• Compiling lists of wastes’ to be transferred off site to third party disposal points. Liaising with other staff to ensure correct routing of wastes.
• Assisting with non- conformance procedures and sample processing within the site laboratory for incoming waste streams.
• Ensuring the operation of a hazardous waste transfer station is able to receive and dispatch loads making sure environmental compliance is abided to.
• Utilising appropriate systems to manage non-compliances.
• Work to meet site and laboratory targets for processing.
• Ensuring house-keeping requirements are maintained and continuous improvement programmes supported.
• Undertake all administration tasks as needed such as chemist check sheets, process sheets, stock sheets etc.
• Other tasks as needed.

 

The Candidate

To be considered for this position, candidates must have an appropriate chemistry qualification to degree level as well as experience handling a diverse range of chemical compounds including understanding of inter-reactions.

Candidates should have experience working in a Site-based Chemist role or working within an industrial lab with a good understanding of the Waste Management/ Hazardous Waste industry.

This role will require you to work in a hands-on operational capacity outdoors in all weather conditions.
