About the role

 

As a Transfer Station Operative, you’ll ensure the site operates efficiently and effectively, with health and safety being at the fore front of everything you do.

 

You’ll coordinate the day to day transport movements on site, ensuring vehicles are weighed in and all details for material entering and leaving site, are entered into the system.

 

As part of this role, you’ll also carry out daily inspections of plant and equipment, ensuring any issues are reported to the site supervisor or Operations Manager as a priority.

 

What are we looking for?

  • The ability to recognise different types of waste streams. 
  • Experience of controlling traffic movements.

Key Responsibility: 

Supporting the delivery of nuclear power plant operating equipment to the client, from external suppliers, through the following activities:

  • Create/amend technical specifications for new equipment scope, utilising expert inputs where applicable.
  • Perform surveillance and approval of contractor deliverables and design activities.
  • Lead contract technical and project meetings
  • Resolution activities for multi-disciplinary technical issues and queries, including input to/ownership of resolving technical Open Points (OP), interface queries and Design Changes (UKDC).
  • Management of technical specialists to perform review of deliverables and to resolve technical issues.
  • Review and approve contract amendments and exemptions (CTSs, ERs)
  • Liaise with RD and client teams to ensure integration of equipment with interfacing functions/systems/structures.
Qualifications

Profile:

  • Understanding of nuclear process and mechanical interfaces (anchorages, civil work, piping, fluids, radioprotection, safety, systems engineering)
  • Good knowledge of Diesel Engines
  • Capable of producing technical specifications
  • Sound understanding of nuclear processing regulations
  • Experience on the design of the EPR TEP/TEU systems, or other nuclear / safety classified tanks, fluid handling systems and mechanical components.
  • Experience of equipment supply contracts and contract forms such as NEC/FIDIC.

As such they are looking for a Mobile Plant Operative to join one of their established teams based at their Transfer Station in Bargeddie.

 

Role Responsibilities:

As a Mobile Plant Operative, your responsibilities will include but not be limited too.
  • Operating mobile plant and on-site equipment such as Front End Loader, 360 or 180 Excavators.
  • To carry out a variety of manual, machine operated duties across the waste processing site.
  • To ensure the maintenance and operation of all site equipment is carried out in a compliant manner.
  • To report any defects using the approved system.
  • Supporting in the pre-sorting and sorting of the waste recycling material, feeding material into the processing machinery as required.
  • Ensuring that Risk Assessments and Safe operating procedure are adhered to at all times.
  • To carry out any reception or front of site duties needed when required.
  • To demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach in order to ensure vital tasks are achieved.

 

Skills & Requirements

The ideal candidate must have:
  • Knowledge of relevant plant and industrial machinery including operation of the plant and first line maintenance experience.
  • Experience operating mobile plant and on-site equipment such as Front End Loader, 360 or 180 Excavators. A formal certification NPORS (or equivalent) would be desirable.
  • Excellent health and safety understanding.
  • Previous experience working in the waste industry or a similar heavy industrial sector.
