What will I be doing?

 

The Production Engineers' job function is to provide engineering support to specific aspects of ELGA Labwater Manufacturing facilities in both the UK and China.

 

The Production Engineer’s primary focus will be to take lead responsibility for the product integration from the development engineering phase to the manufacturing environment.

 

Key responsibilities;

• Involved in the early development stage of new product development, working closely with the engineering team to help assess new product suitability for mass production. This will also include improvements to existing product portfolios.
• Identify and produce any bespoke tooling, jigs, or fixtures required for testing and mass production for different teams across the manufacturing facility. e.g, Quality Control, Research & Development.
• Able to visualise and plan processes and layout, stage material flow on the production floor and coordinate primarily mechanical and electrical build activities.
• Produce and update work instructions in order to manufacture products in the most efficient way/lean manufacturing. This will include assembly instruction documents and videos. Training of technicians will also be part of this process.
• Manage new parts and BOMs on new products.
• Work closely with Quality Control to investigate and resolve any quality issues with products/parts. This Quality Assurance process ensures control and traceability to all modifications to ELGA-released products.
• Represents the department and provides critical feedback to project leaders.
• Coordinates actions across departments and may check on quality and work progress.
• Tasks will be time-sensitive to overall project delivery dates.

The Opportunity  EPR-E is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, an EPCC established in 2018 in charge of the design (basic design) and the realization (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide. In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and prepare the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project. This will frequently involve collaborative work with execution design, procurement and equipment contracts along with other multi-disciplinary design teams to support design delivery in accordance with site construction schedules. Largely being in the post-handover phase of design delivery, our Piping Engineers are responsible for integration of design changes, final equipment design and outstanding open points into the delivered design models. They are expected to contribute to (and where required by seniority manage the team contribution to) the Open Point and UK Design Change management processes for their designated areas, ensuring that impacts to the design are properly categorized and logged prior to their resolution. The engineers are also expected to engage in continuous learning improvement and the identification and correction of non-conformances in the design. Senior engineers within the team will be expected to adopt positions of technical responsibility and coordinate the delivery of engineering teams as required. They are also expected to participate in the mentoring and training of junior team members, and collaboration with parallel disciplines, to maintain the piping design capability of the organisation. They are expected to act as an example of positive behaviours expected from all team members. Exact responsibilities will vary depending on technical scope and level of experience but are expected to include up to the following:  

• Deliver the piping work packages for UK nuclear projects, ensure adherence to specifications, delivery/design processes and QA, including participation and chairing kick off meetings;
• Drive maturity of design and closure of issues to agreed delivery schedule, and that the hand-over package fulfils the quality and maturity requirements given by the Project;
• Report on work pack delivery while managing team-lead and client expectations
• Mentor junior and new members of the team to ensure delivery quality and growth of team capability
• Active engagement and pursuit of deliverable quality, process adherence and continuous improvement within the team
• Adhere to Design Change and Open point management procedures in the execution of design changes and oversee the modelling of piping & support design in the 3D model;
• Working with CAD designers in the preparation of CAD tasks and completion sign-off;
• Undertake investigations for emergent design issues, referring to points of technical authority and actively engaging in other teams;
• Aggressively pursue timely closure of design change contributions from the multi-disciplinary team, escalating issues where appropriate in pursuit of timely delivery of the work packs.

• Propose technical solutions to issues that are found on the generic design concept;
• Effectively communicate with the different stakeholders in the design delivery workflow (calculation team, layout, equipment)

• Carry out kitchen extract system cleaning and canopy cleans in accordance with TR19 Grease.
