Energy Recovery Facilities are vital in supporting the UK’s ambition to reduce waste in an efficient and effective manner, helping to reduce the impact of waste on climate change. After reducing, reusing and recycling as much as possible, our Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs) provide the infrastructure to efficiently recover energy from residual waste, meaning landfill becomes the last resort. 

 

We have an opportunity in Bargeddie for a Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. working 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday night shift. 

 

The salary for this role will be £37,846.00 per year, plus shift allowance and participation in a yearly bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and taking responsibility for your site Maintenance team colleagues, you will be accountable for the safe and effective delivery of day to day site maintenance.

 

As well as both undertaking and supervising maintenance work, you will also ensure that tools, parts and materials are fit for purpose and production downtime is minimised.   As a progressive and forward-thinking problem solver, you will also make sure all plant and equipment is continually modified and improved to maximise its availability and performance (in line with PUWER machinery safety regulations).

 

You will be a pivotal member of the team at Bargeddie attending operational review meetings where you will provide updates on live defects and ongoing improvement plans.  Your engineering expertise will see you undertake and supervise various engineering projects and provide advice and guidance to the Plant Manager and Production teams.

 

Our ideal Maintenance Supervisor will have:

 

  • Previous experience working within a process, production or manufacturing background.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate others.
  • A background in Engineering.
  • A good understanding of a proactive maintenance strategy and condition monitoring.
  • An understanding of Safe Systems of Work.
  • A high level of organisation with the ability to prioritise workloads.
  • NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship in an appropriate Engineering skill (or HNC/HND in a relevant discipline).

The HSEQ Advisor is responsible for ensuring that Company Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001), policies and processes are implemented and personnel are adhering to the requirements of the IMS across the organisation.  This is an operational role and will involve partnering with our Business Units to respond to Client HSEQ contractual requirements, completing safety walkdowns and undertaking surveillance of our activities and supply chain. 

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out project specific HSEQ audits as directed by the HSEQ Director and IMS Lead and as required by the Business Units and customer requirements.
  • Promote a strong HSEQ culture across the business.
  • Support the Business Unit during Client audits of project activities.
  • Support the Business Units with resolving any non-conformances relating to EHSQ.
  • Delivering support and coaching on the use of the management systems.
  • Work with the Business Units to maintain and develop processes.
  • Deliver regular comms around areas relevant to our activities.
  • Support any HSE incidents and/or investigations.
  • Monthly reporting – tracking and reporting HSEQ metrics relevant to the Business Units.
  • Support with the management and capture of Lessons Learnt.
  • Support with bids, responding to HSEQ specific questions.
  • Day to day liaison with project teams on all quality, environmental and health and safety related matters.
  • Support with external audits of the IMS as required (ISO, Achilles, RISQS).

Qualifications

 

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a HSEQ role.

  • Driving and implementing all PPM schedules as well as carrying out maintenance, both preventative and breakdown, on all equipment on the site to reduce operational down time.
  • Managing the installations and refurbishments of equipment on-site and supporting initial commissioning services. 
  • Take part in Root Cause Analysis activities (RCA) to identify the cause of failures and actions to prevent future failures increasing plant up time
  • Communicate shift performance and activities through the shift report and handover process to effectively communicate issues to the management, engineering and production teams
  • Maintain the workplace, tools and engineering facilities to prevent hazard and risks in the workplace and to promote effective engineering practices

The Ideal Candidates

To be considered for this position you will need to have a recognised Level 3 NVQ/HNC/HND within Electrical Engineering or equivalent with a strong understanding of a variety of controls and instrumentation equipment. 

You will have previous demonstrable experience supervising a team of multi-skilled engineers in an industrial operational facility/industry (ideally Waste Management, Power Generations, Aggregates, Manufacturing, FMCG etc). You will have knowledge of CMMS systems and a good understanding of a proactive maintenance strategy and condition monitoring as well as strong health and safety knowledge.

In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and prepare the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project. The role EPR-E UK Piping team is in charge of the detail design of 300km of piping network of the HPC Nuclear Island, up to the issue for fabrication and with additional support provided through to erection on site. Our goal is to safeguard our organisation’s technical capability with talented and growth-oriented individuals who are keen to apply and develop their technical competency in the field of piping engineering. We are seeking experienced engineers to lead team delivery and maintain key technical competency positions in our piping teams for the medium to long term. Future career path opportunities are available across the wider piping and equipment department, and beyond in the expanded EDF operational organization. Successful candidates will join our piping design team, working with and leading a team of engineers and CAD designers on the timely production of piping design models and deliverables on the HPC Nuclear Island scope, ensuring the piping design is executed accurately, respecting system requirements, specifications and configuration changes. This will frequently involve collaborative work with execution design, procurement and equipment contracts along with other multi-disciplinary design teams to support design delivery in accordance with site construction schedules. Largely being in the post-handover phase of design delivery, our Piping Engineers are responsible for integration of remaining design changes, and final equipment designs into the delivered 3D models. They are expected to contribute to and oversee the Open Point and UK Design Change management processes for their designated areas, ensuring that impacts to the design are properly categorized and logged prior to their resolution. The engineers are also expected to engage in continuous learning improvement and the identification and correction of non-conformances in the design. Senior engineers are expected to participate in the long-term support of the teams capability by participating in the training of junior team members in day-to-day activities and the mentoring of certain individuals for key positions. They are expected to act as an example of positive behaviours expected from all team members. Exact responsibilities will vary depending on technical scope but are expected to include up to the following:  
  • Lead team delivery of the piping work packages for UK nuclear projects, ensure adherence to specifications, delivery/design processes and QA, including chairing kick off meetings;
  • Drive maturity of design and closure of issues to agreed delivery schedule, and that the hand-over package fulfils the quality and maturity requirements given by the Project;
  • Drive delivery in support of the project schedule and budget
  • Plan, coordinate and report on team delivery to area managers and scheduling teams while managing client expectations and participating in contractual change processes as required.
  • Mentor and manage junior members of the team to ensure delivery quality and growth of team competency.
  • Act as a champion of deliverable quality and process adherence and continuous improvement within the team
  • Oversee the coordination of active design changes in accordance with project processes and the modelling of piping & support design in the 3D model;
  • Lead troubleshooting investigations for emergent design issues in accordance with project processes, acting as a point of technical authority within the team for issues relevant to scope;
  • Ensure adherence of the design to specification and component catalogues and the overall consistency of the piping and support design (distance between runs, position of welds and openings, etc.);
  • Propose technical solutions to issues that are found on the generic design concept;
  • Ensure communication between different stakeholders in the design workflow is upheld (calculation team, layout, equipment)
  • Drive efficiency and challenge established processes and ways of working to optimise delivery and promote design stability
  • Support the business with the maintenance and development of in-house technical competency
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or suitable diploma;
