Introduction

We are currently recruiting for a Site Chemist to join one of the industry leaders in hazardous and clinical waste management solutions across the UK. Working as a Graduate/ Site Chemist, you will be responsible for taking and analysing hazardous waste samples on-site to ensure safe and compliant waste is processed at all times. This will be supporting with the day-to-day operations of the transfer station.

 

The Job

Reporting to the Production Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Assist with the hands-on operation of the hazardous waste site, ensuring materials coming onto and off site are consistently safe and compliant to site permits and environmental regulations.
  • Analyse, test and classify a wide variety of hazardous waste materials on-site.
  • Assist with compiling lists of wastes to be transferred off site to third party disposal points.
  • Assist with non- conformance procedures and sample processing for incoming waste streams.
  • Unloading and loading lorries across the site, operating forklift tricks and supporting with deliveries.
  • Support the site with any extra duties such as tidying and washing the yard.

 

The Candidate

To be considered for this position, candidates are expected to have an appropriate chemistry qualification to degree level as well as experience handling a diverse range of chemical compounds including understanding of inter-reactions.

This role would suit a recent graduate looking to further their career within the chemical sector and an interest in moving into the waste management industry.

This is NOT a lab-based role, but instead will utilise your chemistry knowledge in a hands-on operational way. You will be working in difficult conditions and across a busy yard environment. Please only apply if this is suitable.

Working as their Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out key planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance across the recycling facility on a wide variety of heavy plant and equipment.

 

What you will be doing

As the Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Preventative maintenance (PPMs) and reactive maintenance across heavy industrial plant
  • Mechanical fault-finding and route cause analysis techniques
  • Working across all processing plant
  • Maintenance on wash plant,sorting equipment, motors, conveyors and other manufacturing based equipment.

The Candidate

Some knowledge of hazardous waste or industrial chemistry would be beneficial as well as previous experience working in a site-based role or in an industrial hands-on environment. This role would suit someone looking to further their career within the chemical sector and an interest in moving into the waste management industry. A NEBOSH certificate or IOSH H&S qualification would also be beneficial.

  • Working as part of the office-based design team with regular visits to site troubleshooting, checking and managing potential and live projects.
  • Driving successful project delivery, working alongside the Project Manager planning, establishing and coordinating the projects, carrying out electrical design works and ensuring projects are delivered to client specifications on time and in budget.
  • Collaborate with project teams to maintain profitability and efficient methods of work
  • Complete electrical designs and develop specifications for internal and external equipments required for each project.
  • Specify job requirements, parts and materials needed to enable projects to be scoped for tender and on-site delivery.
  • Survey electrical systems and plans.
  • Project budget and programme management.
  • Compliance with NICEIC requirements.
  • Manage all elements of the project delivery from initial site surveys, proposal preparations through to handover. This includes costings, proposals, specifications, ordering, fault finding, testing and commissioning.
