The Job

Working as a Technical Assessor, you will be responsible for…
  • Identify and assign cost effective treatment and processing routes for a variety of hazardous waste streams (both in house and external) to meet waste enquiries.
  • Carry out technical assessment of waste enquiries through characterising and applying accurate classification of the waste and ensuring all waste brought onto site meets current permits, compliance and legislation.

The Candidate

To be considered for this position, candidates are expected to have a background working within a technical assessment/ support role with some understanding of working within the waste management sector, specifically hazardous waste management.  

 

Candidates should hold a degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Chemistry with a strong ability to understand and interpret analytical data and legislation

 

Demonstrable experience communicating and coordinating with people at all levels of an organisation is also desired as this role will require working with customers, clients and internal personnel.

Deputy Group Leader (Manufacturing Control)                                        Aztec West (Bristol)                                                                                                             (3 days per week minimum) EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide. In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project. At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes. For the HPC project, we are currently looking to recruit for the role of Deputy Group Leader – Manufacturing Control The UK Manufacturing Control (UKMC) team aims to provide adequate and reactive surveillance on:
  • Manufacturing documentation and In-shop manufacturing.

These activities are achieved to provide confidence to our clients (projects) and to ensure that the manufactured parts and equipment reach the expected level of quality, in accordance with the specified requirements, and can thus be delivered to nuclear sites for installation. Created in November 2021, and as part of DI (Industrial Division of EDF Group), the UKMC team is now part of EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E). Its headquarters are in Bristol (Aztec West). The main competencies of the team are Manufacturing, Materials, Welding and NDTs. UKMC current scope of work is basically all the manufacturing in the UK for new nuclear projects (UK and abroad) and the French operating fleets. But most of the work (~90%) is dedicated to HPC project, on all areas and programmes:
  • Nuclear Island (UK4101, HK4102.1)
  • Conventional Island and Balance of Plant (UK3011, UK3511, UK3252, UK5211, UK5221…)

The purpose of this role is primarily to assist the Manager/Group Leader of the UKMC team. The main tasks are: Technical assistance contracts:

Internal control and monitoring of the team activities:

Propositions of business development, and identifying strategic opportunities The candidate will have to be able to travel on a regular basis in the UK (couple of times each month) and occasionally in France (Paris). To be considered, we require the following skills and experience:
  • Management skills: an already acquired and successful experience is team leading/management (preferable), otherwise to be able to demonstrate such skills
  • Knowledge in equipment procurement contracts for nuclear projects (HPC preferably)
  • Good technical competencies in mechanical engineering, materials, welding
  • Advanced knowledge in the manufacturing of equipment/parts, as well as in Quality and/or Surveillance
  • Experience in the management/coordination of contracts for technical assistance

What will I be doing?

 

The Production Engineers' job function is to provide engineering support to specific aspects of ELGA Labwater Manufacturing facilities in both the UK and China.

 

The Production Engineer’s primary focus will be to take lead responsibility for the product integration from the development engineering phase to the manufacturing environment.

 

Key responsibilities;

  • Involved in the early development stage of new product development, working closely with the engineering team to help assess new product suitability for mass production. This will also include improvements to existing product portfolios.
  • Identify and produce any bespoke tooling, jigs, or fixtures required for testing and mass production for different teams across the manufacturing facility. e.g, Quality Control, Research & Development.
  • Able to visualise and plan processes and layout, stage material flow on the production floor and coordinate primarily mechanical and electrical build activities.
  • Produce and update work instructions in order to manufacture products in the most efficient way/lean manufacturing. This will include assembly instruction documents and videos. Training of technicians will also be part of this process.
  • Manage new parts and BOMs on new products.
  • Work closely with Quality Control to investigate and resolve any quality issues with products/parts. This Quality Assurance process ensures control and traceability to all modifications to ELGA-released products.
  • Represents the department and provides critical feedback to project leaders.
  • Coordinates actions across departments and may check on quality and work progress.
  • Tasks will be time-sensitive to overall project delivery dates.

 

Do I have what it takes?

Must-haves;

  • Previous experience in an administrative role, preferably within a manufacturing/logistics industry.
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English (minimum 4/5)
  • In-depth knowledge of inventory management principles and best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail organised and able to manage and prioritise work.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
