    Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  

• Level 3 in electrical installations as a minimum
• 18th edition wiring regs
• Ideally you will have C&G 2391 or equivalent
• A HSE qualification is desired
• Experience within a solar or BESS environment is hugely preferred
• UK driving licence is essential

• Flexible with location and in travelling outside of your patch on occasion

The plant is a 44MW waste wood burning plant, consisting of heat recovery units, steam turbine & generator. As the Operations Manager you’ll be supporting the day to day running of the Plant by coordinating the activities of the Operations Team. This includes ensuring the safe & efficient operation of the plant, ensuring compliance with relevant policies & processes and managing the contractual obligations of the power station. Astute’s power team are looking for an EC&I Technician / EC&I Craftsperson to a large Energy from Waste plant located in Kent, South East England. This plant can produce up to 45MW of Power by processing up to 550,000 tonnes of waste per year, usually destined for landfill.   As an EC&I Technician you’ll be responsible for all reactive & preventative maintenance across a variety of critical equipment including DCS/SCADA Systems, PLC’s, drives, motors, switchgear etc. This is a permanent position which is offering a competitive starting salary of up to £55,000 depending on experience, plus bonus, overtime, call out payments & benefits package.                   Responsibilities and duties Reporting to the EC&I Maintenance Team Leader, as an EC&I Technician you will be responsible for:

• Pre-planned and reactive maintenance duties on all electrical, controls and instrumentation assets across the power station
• Fault finding/maintaining electrical systems; motors, drives, single phase & three phase equipment, switchgear, high/low voltage plant etc and instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level & flow) and control systems

• At least 4 years of hands-on maintenance experience with motors, switchgear, instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, temperate etc) and control systems (SCADA, DCS and PLC)
• Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc. Royal Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered.
• Involvement in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential.
• Experience with High-Voltage equipment such as transformers / switchgear will be advantageous.

The plant, currently under construction, is capable of processing up to 350,000 tonnes of waste per year, producing power for up to 70,000 homes. This new build Power Station is due to enter commercial operation by the end of 2026. Now is an ideal time to join the power station as you’ll be involved in full plant commissioning, training & mobilisation. We are looking for an Operations Engineer to join the Operations Team on this brand new facility. As the Operations Engineer you’ll be providing day to day support to the Operations Manager & Shift Team Leaders with the safe & efficient operation of the plant. There will be a focus on improving efficiency & plant performance to meet contractual obligations in terms of availability & power production. • Ideally qualified with an IOSH / NEBOSH or equivalent with an appreciation of workplace Health & Safety including knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, LOTO, Isolations, SOP's, RAMS would also be considered.
• Ideally a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship.

      Personal skills The Operations Engineer would suit someone with:

• At least five years supervisory or leadership experience or able to demonstrate extensive leadership qualities.
• Qualified to act as a Senior Authorised Person / SAP for all HV Switching activities.
• Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in an industry such as Energy from Waste, Biomass, Coal, CCGT, Nuclear / Power Generation, Petrochemical or Oil & Gas etc ideally with Steam Raising plant.
• Marine Engineers from Merchant Fleet or Royal Navy will be considered.
• Experience in leading a team of Process Operators / Technicians.
• Involvement in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential.
