Role Overview

Hochtief is looking to recruit an Environmental Advisor to support the delivery of the Infrastructure Delivery Partner (IDP) programme at Sellafield. This role will focus on supporting environmental compliance and performance across a range of infrastructure and construction activities within a highly regulated nuclear environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with project teams to ensure environmental risks are effectively managed and that all works are delivered in line with legal requirements and environmental best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day environmental support to project and site teams

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and site requirements

  • Support the development and implementation of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), method statements, and risk assessments

  • Identify environmental risks on site and assist in implementing mitigation measures

  • Carry out site inspections, monitoring, and environmental audits

  • Support environmental incident investigations and reporting

  • Maintain accurate environmental records and contribute to performance reporting

  • Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders on environmental matters

  • Promote environmental awareness and good practice across site activities

  • Support sustainability initiatives, including waste management and resource efficiency

Key Requirements

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline

  • Experience in an environmental role within construction, infrastructure, or a regulated industry

  • Working knowledge of UK environmental legislation

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage with site teams

  • Proactive approach to environmental management

Desirable

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment (nuclear experience advantageous)

  • Awareness of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems

  • Membership of (or working towards) a relevant professional body (e.g., IEMA)

Astute’s Power Team are working with one of the country’s leading Waste Management companies and supporting the recruitment of their newest Energy from Waste facility. The Lostock Sustainable Energy Plant is currently under construction, and when complete will be exporting ~70MW of electricity to the grid, processing circa 600,000 tonnes of waste per year. We are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader to join the Maintenance Team of this exciting project. As a Mechanical Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the Mechanical Department to ensure reactive and preventative maintenance is scheduled and actioned in a timely manner to maximise plant reliability & availability. Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:
  • A recognised qualification in Mechanical engineering at ideally HNC / ONC / HND level.
  • Ideally qualified with an IOSH or equivalent with an appreciation of workplace Health & Safety including knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, LOTO, Isolations, SOP's, RAMS.
  • Recognised Mechanical Maintenance Apprenticeship.
Personal skills The Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader role would suit someone who has:
  • At least three years supervisory experience
  • A further 3 - 5 years minimum in a hands on technical role working on mechanical plant
  • Proven experience in coordinating and scheduling maintenance work
  • Familiar with Health & Safety Regulations such as LOLER, PUWER & PSSR.
  • Hands on experience with a range of equipment including boilers, turbines, pumps, valves, compressors, conveyors, gearboxes etc.
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in an industry such as Power Generation, Petrochemical or Oil & Gas etc. Marine Engineers from Merchant Fleet or Royal Navy will be considered.
  • Involvement in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential.
