  • The maintenance, service and repair of various specialist water treatment equipment including standard base exchange, filtration, deionisation, reverse osmosis and laboratory water treatment products.
  • Installation, removal and commissioning of the equipment on-site.
  • Understand the water treatment process, product and technical issues with an ability to fault find using first line investigation techniques.
  • Contribute to financial sales targets by recommending and quoting the necessary added value spares, refurbishments and consumable items to maintain the customer's equipment in optimum operating condition.
  • Performing out of hours and breakdown cover when required.
  • Assisting clients with technical faults.
  • Completing risk assessments, activity reports and other documentation as required.
  • Offering after sales technical support.

  • Minimum Level 2 Engineering qualification

About the role

 

As a Transfer Station Operative, you’ll ensure the site operates efficiently and effectively, with health and safety being at the fore front of everything you do.

 

You’ll coordinate the day to day transport movements on site, ensuring vehicles are weighed in and all details for material entering and leaving site, are entered into the system.

 

As part of this role, you’ll also carry out daily inspections of plant and equipment, ensuring any issues are reported to the site supervisor or Operations Manager as a priority.

 

What are we looking for?

 

  • Good knowledge of transfer station operations.  
  • The ability to recognise different types of waste streams. 
  • Experience of controlling traffic movements. 
  • Full driving licence.

Astute are searching for an Electrical Engineer with a background in electrical design work and knowledge of PLC systems to work closely with maritime defence applications.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

As the Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Selection of electrical/electronic hardware for design in accordance with customer requirements, including MoD, involving liaison with suppliers.
  • Engineering design & production of documentation for hardware and software control systems.  The design to fully comply with our client and/or the customer’s requirements.
  • Development of automation and control software that will be installed on process plants to fully comply with our client and/or the customer’s requirements.
  • Direction of Design Office during production of designs, including checking.
  • Operation of the Company’s Departmental Procedures.
  • Liaison with production/sub-contractors during manufacture and test of control systems, sub-assemblies etc.  Supervision of technicians building prototype units.
  • Testing and fault finding of control and test systems, including preparation of relevant documentation.
  • Visits to clients’ offices or sub-contractor/suppliers’ works as required.
  • Analysis, assessment, and deployment of modern technology to improve the effectiveness, operation, and accessibility of information at our clients’ offices.

 

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Degree or HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Background of electrical/electronic manufacturing practices.
  • Structured, logical approach to engineering design.
  • Fault-finding.

  • Use of FLT/Dump Truck and other mobile plant as required
  • Provide technical advice on chemicals to departmental members and other divisions as required.
  • Liaising with customers and/or in-group and third-party disposal sites.
  • Assisting with general administrative duties associated with the running of the Transfer Station.
  • Other duties as required.
