Cost Accountant Position Summary:
Selectemp Employment Services is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our client’s team in Grants Pass, OR. This role will focus on maintaining and optimizing our standard cost and inventory systems for environmental products centered on air quality, noise, vibration, and meteorology within the US market. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to provide accurate and timely cost analysis to support business decisions.As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for:
Analyze and monitor manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, and overhead.
Prepare detailed cost reports and variance analyses comparing actual results to budgets and standards.
Maintain and update the standard cost system, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes related to inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS).
Reconcile inventory accounts and ensure proper valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
Partner with production and operations teams to understand cost drivers and identify opportunities for efficiency and savings.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing detailed cost and margin analysis.
Perform ad hoc financial analysis to support management decisions.
Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and internal controls.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in manufacturing cost accounting.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, standard costing, and inventory management.
Proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to communicate effectively across departments and work collaboratively with operations and leadership teams.
