What You’ll Do

As a Welder Fabricator, you will be responsible for:

  • Positioning, aligning, fitting, and welding parts to create completed steel assemblies

  • Reading blueprints and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to determine materials and sequence of tasks

  • Verifying material conformance using measuring tapes, squares, and rulers

  • Aligning and marking workpieces for bending and cutting, accounting for thickness and weld shrinkage

  • Moving large workpieces manually or using forklifts and overhead cranes

  • Setting up and operating fabrication equipment including brakes, rolls, shears, grinders, flame cutters, and drill presses

  • Clamping, heating, grinding, tack-welding, and bolting parts to achieve correct fit

  • Welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions using manual or semi-automatic equipment

  • Monitoring fit-up, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating, distortion, or warping

  • Inspecting completed welds and assemblies to ensure they meet specifications

  • Operating cranes safely and following all equipment protocols

What You’ll Bring

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • 2–5+ years of steel fabrication and welding experience, or demonstrated intermediate/advanced skill level

  • Knowledge of MIG welding (required)

  • Certification or degree in welding/fabrication (preferred)

  • Strong understanding of welding characteristics and physical properties of various metals

  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet for most of the shift

  • Performs quality checks including weighing and volume checks
  • Communicates with the material handler if the material should have more moisture or switched to another material
  • Performs housekeeping duties to ensure the material does not accumulate under the conveyors, aisle ways and catwalks by following safety practices to avoid injuries
  • Completes production documentation insuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness
  • Informs the maintenance personnel of any problems in which they may encounter
  • Follows safety practices to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
