Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Authorization Rep:
Verifying patient eligibility and facility approval, ensuring timely authorization
Collecting pertinent demographics and clinical data for each authorization required
Communicating effectively with physicians, department staff, and patients regarding authorization issues
Providing excellent customer service, addressing provider, staff, and patient concerns in a courteous manner
Cross-training others to ensure consistent coverage and providing backup support as needed
Required Skills for Authorization Rep:
1-2 years of hospital registration experience
Proficiency in medical terminology, Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)/Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS)/International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-9 coding
