Supporting the delivery of nuclear power plant operating equipment to the client, from external suppliers, through the following activities:

  • Create/amend technical specifications for new equipment scope, utilising expert inputs where applicable.

Main Duties

The duties will include, but are not limited to, working within the guidance provided by TR19 and associated company documents, and guidance, to ensure that any work on site is safe and free from the risks.

  • Carry out kitchen extract system cleaning and canopy cleans in accordance with TR19 Grease.

Working as their Mechanical Technician you will be responsible for carrying out key planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance across the recycling facility on a wide variety of heavy plant and equipment.ย  ย 

What you will be doingย 

As Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all plant and equipment on sites is modified and improved, as necessary, to maximise equipment availability and performance.
  • Delivering the Planned Maintenance (PM) schedules as well as responding to reactive maintenance tasks on time and to company standard.
  • Be aware of stock control and maintain shift paperwork to the highest standard, to complete condition reports and other documentation as defined by the maintenance strategy.

Candidates must haveย strong Mechanical Maintenance experience (both planned and reactive) working on fast paced production plant within heavy processing industries such as Power Generation, Waste Management, Aggregates, FMCG, Manufacturing or Water Treatment.

You will have experience of working with low levels of supervision in a high-pressure production environment and have a strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, proactive maintenance strategies and condition monitoring.

Job Description

This role will be working within the R&D process team on new developments in water purification technologies and products on the laboratory scale. These will be associated with a wide range of process technologies and new product projects.

The work will primarily involve designing, building and operating laboratory-scale test rigs featuring new technologies, prototypes and finished products. This requires associated chemical/microbiological analytical test work and reporting on results, as part of the Research and Development team. Calibration of instruments and auditing/maintaining records are also important tasks. Analytical skills in chemistry, microbiology and chemical engineering will be utilised.

The Role

Working as their Transfer Station Site Chemist, you will be responsible for:
  • Assist with the hands-on operation of the hazardous waste transfer station, ensuring materials coming onto and off site are consistently safe and compliant to site permits and environmental regulations.

  • Look for opportunities and where appropriate to sell parts, consumables, plant upgrades and refurbishment work, working with the appropriate sales team.

  • Feedback to customers on future product development, features and functions and show how they will add value to their business.

  • Provide updates to line manager on any issues that may result in financial, reputational or operational impact on the Company, seek guidance and support as required to ensure the service provided to our customers is a priority.

General requirements for the role:

  • A HNC or degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or Chemistry qualification or similar or qualified by experience.

  • GCSE or equivalent โ€“ English and Maths.

  • A full UK driving license is required.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Candidates must have knowledge and experience in chemical water treatment e.g. cooling tower management, and boiler optimisation.

  • Experience of having worked as an Operations/Service Engineer or in a Technical Support role or laboratory experience.

  • Passionate about providing a first-class service to our customers.

  • Able to handle challenging conversations with customers and find a resolution.

  • Strong communication skills both verbally and written, with the versatility to communicate at all levels in a clear and concise manner.

  • Demonstrable experience of having built strong working relationships both internally and externally.

  • A good level of IT competency.

  • Good organisational skills with an eye for detail.

  • Able to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks.
