Astute’s Power team are looking to recruit a Cladding Manager for an immediate start on a 6-month minimum on an Energy from Waste project in Kent.        Key skills required for the Cladding Manager  
  • Attend Coordination meetings.
  • Conduct daily site briefing and toolbox talks.
  • Laise with PM, black hats, sub-contractors, and H&S advisors with regards to progress, materials, and site activities.
  • Implement project plans according to project schedule.
  • Serve as the main on-site point of contract for client.
  • Oversee daily operations on construction site.
  • Monitor work to ensure quality and compliance with safety standards.
  • Assign tasks and ensure efficient use of labour.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and labour.
  • Maintain daily site diaries and logs.
  • Address on-site challenges and delays proactively.
  • Manage equipment, tools, and materials on-site.
  • Laise with Project Manage to make real-time decisions to keep the project on track.
  • Enforce adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Must hold relevant Cladding experience as a Supervisor / Site Manager

  • Dual role as Project Construction Manager for Civil works, transitioning into more of Site Manager position for remainder of the project.
  •  Lead and encourage contractor teams meeting HSEQ requirements.
  • Oversee civil project team
  • Define and manage Civil Project scope e.g. Design Scope & WBS
  • Take ownership of civil change management and cost control.
  • Support subcontractor negotiations and contract administration.
  • Must have previous experience as a Civil Construction Manager / Project Manager with either an EPC / Leading Civil Subcontractor
  • Must also have experience within Energy from Waste or similar industries.

  • Oversee lifting operations using cranes and mechanical equipment. 
  • Ensure compliance with UK safety regulations (LOLER, PUWER). 
  • Lead lifting teams (crane operators, riggers, slingers). 
  • Conduct equipment inspections and maintain safety records.

EC&I Technician

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading power generation company to recruit an Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Technician for their Biomass site in Chester on a contract basis for an immediate start.            Key skills  
  • Act as the Electrical Duty Holder for the site, ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.
  • Promote and support plant safety initiatives, including participation in Near Miss and Incident Investigations, and implement resulting recommendations.
  • Ensure all Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) assets comply with Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and test software modules and control systems or equivalent platforms.
  • Lead fault-finding and root cause investigations for EC&I systems to identify and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including procedures, method statements, and technical guidance.
  • Implement, maintain, and test SCADA systems, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.
  • Own and manage the Safety Instrumented System (SIS), including maintenance, proof testing, and performance verification.
  • Support outage and maintenance activities, ensuring timely, safe, and compliant completion of all EC&I work, and maintain accurate reporting within the CMMS.
  •  Must have experience in a relevant environment/sector (e.g. power station, chemical process)
  • Must have worked with rotating machinery and Instrumentation.

Commissioning Lead Engineer (BOP)

Astute’s Power team is partnering with leading principal contractor in the Energy from Waste sector to recruit a Commissioning Lead Engineer (BOP) on a short-term contract basis for its site in Leeds with an immediate start. The Commissioning Lead Engineer (BOP – Balance of Plant) role comes with a day rate of between £600-£700 per day (Outside IR35).             Key skills  
  • Lead and ensure HSEQ compliance during all commissioning activities, actively promoting safety and risk mitigation across teams.
  • Review and implement HSEQ requirements, ensuring practices follow RAMS and site standards.
  • Oversee commissioning execution in line with contracts, schedules, budgets, and approved standards.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and external authorities to achieve safe, timely, and high-quality outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, deliver regular progress reports, and capture lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
  • Specific commissioning responsibilities on Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment.
  • Must have EFW (Energy from Waste/Waste to Energy) experience
