Electrical Engineer (Design & Pre-Construction)

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading principal contractor who are looking to recruit a Design & Pre-Construction Electrical Engineer on a 12-month contract for its Wastewater Treatment project in Northeast of London.        Key skills required for the Design & Pre-Construction Electrical Engineer  
  • Review electrical designs for compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Prepare scopes of work, work plans, and phasing strategies for electrical packages.
  • Manage material submittals and review supplier offers, preparing Technical Bid Evaluations.
  • Assist with BOQs, cost estimates, procurement schedules, and budget verification.
  • Develop Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and RAMS.
  • Contribute to construction and commissioning strategy planning.
  • Supervise electrical works on site, ensuring compliance with standards and safety requirements.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and inspections.
  • Witness and supervise testing and pre-commissioning activities.
  • Validate as-built drawings and support commissioning activities with clients and subcontractors.

The Commissioning Lead Engineer (BOP – Balance of Plant) role comes with a day rate of between £600-£700 per day (Outside IR35).             Key skills  
  • Lead and ensure HSEQ compliance during all commissioning activities, actively promoting safety and risk mitigation across teams.
  • Review and implement HSEQ requirements, ensuring practices follow RAMS and site standards.
  • Oversee commissioning execution in line with contracts, schedules, budgets, and approved standards.

The company develop, construct, own and operate their own renewable energy assets and we’re looking for a Senior Authorised Person to carryout operations, construction, commissioning and maintenance works of the high voltage networks on all renewable energy asset types, including ground mount solar PV assets, battery storage and electric vehicle charging solutions                     Roles & Responsibilities Reporting to the Head of Operations you will be responsible for:  
  • Routine maintenance, testing, and remedial work on high voltage networks
  • Writing High Voltage switching schedules and approval of the same
  • Carrying out High Voltage switching
  • Issuing safety documents in line with the company’s Electrical Safety Rules
  • Performing High Voltage preventative maintenance in accordance with the annual maintenance plans and completing professional reports
  • Performing High Voltage corrective maintenance as required and completing reports in a timely manner
  • Leading on High voltage faults and reporting findings
  • Keeping accurate and detailed records of electrical testing, High voltage switching schedules and safety documents that are suitable for audit
      Skills & Qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • 2+ years of SAP-level High Voltage work experience, experience in solar and private networks, must have had authorisation to issue SFT, PTW
  • HV senior authorised up to 33kV at a minimum (private network) an experienced 11kv underground DNO Senior Authorised Person will be considered
  • Trained to nationally recognised qualifications in HV operational works
  • Experience in commissioning HV switchgear, cable testing and construction works
  • Working knowledge of G59 and G99 relays
  • Experience in on site management of operational staff and contractors
  • A full and clean UK driving licence
  • IOSH or NEBOSH Qualification/SMSTS would be desirable
