The Electrical Tester position come with an hourly rate from £19 to £22 per hour. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
  • Perform electrical inspection and testing (Initial Verification & Periodic) in accordance with BS 7671

  • Complete test sheets and electrical installation condition reports (EICs, EICRs, MEWPs, etc.)

  • Conduct dead and live testing (IR, continuity, Zs, ZsR1+R2, RCD, etc.)

  • Identify faults, non-conformances, and complete remedial actions as needed

  • Support site-wide QA and handover documentation (Red Line drawings, snag lists)

Role responsibilities for the Commissioning Shift Operator positions reporting to the Commissioning Manager:
  • Ensures works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with contract requirements, and conform with project time, budget and Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) requirements
  • Supports the commissioning team in all mechanical issues (filter cleaning and exchange, greasing, dismount pumps, replenish consumables etc.
  • Maintains all mechanical tools in a clean state and ready to use
  • Maintains and cleans the equipment of the plant
  • Reports any variations and issues to the Commissioning Manager
  • Liaises and coordinates with other project team members, in particular the Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Lead Engineers and shift team leaders.
  • Operate and control power generating equipment, including boilers, turbines, generators, reactors etc using semi automated control system and standalone equipment control panels

Qualifications and skills required for the Commissioning Shift Operator roles:
  • Knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal and management system requirements

The Role

Currently they have a requirement for a Lead Commissioning Engineers to lead a team of Engineers and Technicians throughout the commissioning of the project. We are looking for candidates with building services experience. 

As Lead Commissioning Engineer, you will bring demonstrable commissioning experience and practical skills to the commissioning team. Working closely with the Commissioning team, you will be responsible for planning, executing and documenting of commissioning and handover activities on the project and programme of works in a safe manner, fully in accordance with company processes, systems, procedures and specifications. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Working in collaboration with the construction team, ensuring that commissioning activities are planned safely and to required quality standards and specifications
  • Providing appropriate support throughout the commissioning phase of the project
  • Updating of commissioning documentation including site reports and assisting with O&M manuals
  • Carrying out and recording of all commissioning tests
  • Liaising with onsite subcontractors where necessary
  • Reporting to the Project Director and Commissioning Manager and updating relevant personnel on site progress 
  • Adhered to health and safety regulations and reporting any incidents appropriately.

Astute’s EPC Contract Power team is partnering with an EPC Contractor within the UK and Global Power Industry to recruit 2x Electrical Commissioning Technicians on a 5 months initial contract for its Open Cycle Gas Turbine plant based in Stewartby, Bedfordshire.

The Electrical Commissioning Technician roles comes with a day rate from £450.00 to £475.00.

 

 

Key skills and responsibilities: 

  • Hands-on commissioning of electrical components and systems such as, transformers, medium/low voltage switchgears, DC systems, rectifiers, inverters, motorized valves, instruments etc. Fully competent at using Primary & Secondary Injection test set equipment.
  • Assist the commissioning engineers in carrying out testing on electrical systems and equipment, as well as system optimization and troubleshooting and filling-in the respective commissioning documentation and protocols
  • Participation in the walk-downs for Turnover from construction to commissioning, identifying open items that prevent system start-up.
  • Preparation of the site for the electrical team to plan ahead for site works.
  • Report to the Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer for this project.
