Responsibilities and duties of the Associate / Associate Director – Ecology role

  • A recognised environmental qualification is desirable, with preference for a NEBOSH Environmental Diploma; however, equivalent qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH Environmental Certificate, IEMA) will also be considered. ISO 14001 knowledge or certification (such as Internal or Lead Auditor) is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to anticipate changes and provide strategic guidance.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and enhancing environmental management systems and processes, including ISO 14001.

HOW TO DEFINE YOUR PURPOSE Due to our ongoing growth, we are looking to recruit a Head of Project Management.   Reporting to the Head of PMO, the Head of PM will be primarily responsible for effectively managing the Project Management organisation to ensure the business needs are satisfied in relation to project delivery across the BLs.   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Required Attributes:  
  • Experience in highly regulated industries. Experience of Nuclear industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience in managing complex projects and/or programs and/or project portfolios from a delivery perspective (vast experience)
  • Management of PM teams and experience of planning resources, workload management. (Vast experience)
  • Strong knowledge and experience of implementing of project processes, systems, and tools and understanding of finance, budget, and project accounting. Project management Certification (PMQ, working toward PPQ or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of relevant ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001,19443) and working knowledge of IMS systems
  • Technical knowledge of some area of the business (engineering, manufacturing, supply of equipment, site management)
  • Have very good understanding of finance, budget, and cost management
  • A comprehensive understanding of the health, safety and environmental requirements of managing project (incl. CDM regulation)
  • Experience and understanding of commercial and contract management (incl. NEC, FIDIC, ad hoc, etc.)

The activities delivered by this highly skilled team is ensuring optimal performance of new BMS installations and upgrades across Mitie's client's sites to maintain comfort conditions and drive down energy usage in our goal to achieve Zero Carbon.

Following significant growth in Mitie's FM contract Base, Mitie Controls are now seeking to recruit experienced and enthusiastic BMS Controls Engineers to join our established and successful team of BMS professionals.

This site based role offers a variety of challenges which will provide the opportunity for the engineers to become part of a professional proactive site operation delivering PPM activities, reactive calls and commissioning works.

You will be part of a two person BMS team working alongside Mitie's Operational M&E team which is based at this large multiple building site.

The Trend BMS installed throughout this site includes a number of previous generation controllers, so ideally you will have experience of IQ2s, IQ3s, IQ4s, 963 and IQVision.

You will need to be suitably qualified and have experience and training of the Trend Building Management System with knowledge of previous generation equipment and be extremely confident in fault finding. You will also need to have a strong technical understanding of networking and HVAC plant and applications along with an electrically biased experience.

 

What will you do day to day?

  • Provide an exceptional level of commitment and professionalism in delivering value enhancing BMS PPM activities.
  • Work closely with the site operations team and the client to address reactive callouts and remedial / upgrade works.
  • Work alongside the site management teams to contribute to the overall strategy and development of the BMS across the site.
  • Carryout surveys, identification and quoting of small / remedial works which will benefit both the client and the Mitie site teams
  • Become involved in larger project works and take ownership for these throughout the site on an ad hoc basis.
  • Have the opportunity to design and configure controller strategies and schematics to improve the usability of the BMS.
  • Use initiative to proactively adopt tasks and work alongside the site team, energy managers and sub-contractors to make the site better.
  • Seek opportunities to gain greater experience of Tridium, Trend and Distech through integration projects and engineering.
  • Be focused on the Mitie Plan Zero initiative and support all service line opportunities wherever possible.
  • Ensure all Health and Safety standards are maintained across the site

 

Who will you work with?

The National BMS Operation consists of a team of over 50 engineers, managers and support colleagues. You will be an integral part of this team whilst more locally being part of the London and Southern region where you will report into the Regional BMS Operations Manager. On a daily basis you will work alongside another BMS engineer and the site Mitie M&E delivery team.   

 

What Experience & Skills should you have?

  • You should have knowledge and experience equal to the Trend Expert competency level and have the ability to confidently modify controller software and schematics for 963 & IQVision.
  • Experience of previous generation Trend controllers will be essential.
  • You will need to be confident in the use of the Trend SET (Software Engineering Tool).
  • Preferably you will be experienced in integrating solutions / systems through a number of different protocols including Modbus, MBus, Bacnet. This would include having an understanding of Metering and Open Protocol solutions.
  • A good knowledge of IT networks and IP Configuration would be beneficial.
  • Be effective in anticipating and understanding customer expectations and ensure customer requirements are met and expectations appropriately managed.
  • Have confidence in building partner relationships with customers and suppliers focusing on solving any problems.
