The Maintenance Technician will play an essential role in providing preventive maintenance, diagnosis and repair of all equipment. The ideal candidate will maintain an organized and safe environment while actively maintaining equipment productivity. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Preventive maintenance, diagnosis and repair of all pieces of equipment within the bakery including: production equipment; building (inside construction) and facility grounds.
  • Maintaining the equipment’s productivity to minimize downtime or malfunctions. Some tasks are required to be performed within rigid time frames to maximize bakery product productivity.
  • Performing inside construction which may include framing, plumbing and electrical components.
  • Preparing specific and accurate parts request forms, and responding to maintenance and line stoppage calls with urgency
  • Providing technical assistance and information to Assistant Bakery Maintenance Manager, as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely records of work performed on work orders, maintenance calls, and preventative maintenance reports.
  • Using an online project management program to document work orders 

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • LME license is a plus but not required
  • 1+ years’ experience in similar maintenance of production equipment
  •  Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs consistently and stand for long periods.
Must Join union within 30 days of hire if you are hired on permanently

Ensure proper amounts of veneer sheets are fed with each dryer cycle, according to supervisor expectations and production needs. Move green veneer onto a scissors platform and maintain the proper height at that platform At times, the machine will jam or plug up which will at times require the worker to remove or assist in removing the blockage.  Assistance will be available upon request, should the worker be unable to perform this activity alone. Proper Lock-out-tag-out procedures Use and understand dryers’ manual button operating system for power control. Breaking of other dryer employees and rotation to different positions for cross-training purposes or to facilitate production as designated by the supervisor. Assist co-workers or Maintenance personnel in basic maintenance procedures or fixing dryer plug-ups. Perform weekly maintenance, including greasing and oiling of machine parts as necessary for proper dryer function. Perform routine weekly dryer cleanings: including the removal of cans/tubes and other machine parts from dryer basement, using water hoses to remove debris from inside the dryer,  shoveling and sorting debris into proper waste boxes (by size and makeup), and replacing cleaned machine parts.
