Position Overview/Responsibilities for the Benefits Specialist:Administer benefits enrollment, termination, and Qualified Life Event (QLE) changes
Process enrollments, terminations, and QLEs in Workday and follow up with colleagues for missing or incomplete documentation
Respond to Zendesk tickets with benefits questions from colleagues, managers, or HR
Advise managers and employees on state and federal employment regulations, collective agreements, benefit and compensation policies, personnel procedures, and classification programs
Evaluate job positions, determining classification, exempt or non-exempt status, and salary
Assist in preparing and maintaining personnel records and handbooks
Required Skills for Benefits Specialist:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, customer service, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage one's time
Prior experience with Benefits and/or HR administration
Technical skills and proficiency with current, new, and emerging human resource information systems (e.g., Workday)
General knowledge of regulations governing Benefits particularly Enrollment and Qualified Life Events
Proficiency in MS Excel/Google Sheets (i.e. VLOOKUP's, pivot tables, etc.)
Strong organizational skills and punctuality for on-time attendance
Teamwork and collaboration skills
Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
