Position Overview for the SQL Server DBA / Database Engineer:

  • Stand up new Microsoft SQL Server environments within Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to support a newly independent technology landscape
  • Lead database migration/copy activities across non-production and production environments, partnering with application teams during cutovers
  • Rebuild and operationalize SQL Agent jobs, maintenance plans, and monitoring to ensure stability from day one
  • Drive performance tuning, indexing strategy, and early optimization to prevent downstream reliability and scalability issues
  • Collaborate with a lean internal IT team and provide clear status updates, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders

Requirements for the SQL Server DBA / Database Engineer:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience administering and engineering Microsoft SQL Server in production environments
  • Demonstrated experience deploying and supporting SQL Server on Azure IaaS (VM-based), including configuration, storage, and operational considerations
  • Proven database migration experience, including planning, execution, validation, and dependency awareness (e.g., jobs, logins, backups)
