• Engineering Degree relevant to role
• Experience in at least one of the following areas of engineering: Electrical Layout, Electrical, HVAC, mechanical, safety etc.
• Nuclear experience is highly desirable in particular projects involving PWR.
• Previous experience working with 3D design software (e.g. Navisworks, AutoCAD, PDMS and/or E3D)

  • Nomination, in writing, of appointed/responsible persons to comply with identified hazards and H&S legislation.

  • Provide adequate welfare and first aid facilities.

  • Conduct regular audits with clients and subcontractors to review and discuss H&S matters.

  • Ensure project is executed in accordance with the Quality, Environmental and H&S plan.

  • Implement project specific Quality, Environmental and H&S plans. Regularly review and update the project plans.

  • Ensure close out of site in accordance with the Company Procedures.

  • IOSH qualification or relevant H&S qualification is essential

We are currently recruiting for a Site Chemist to join one of the industry leaders in hazardous and clinical waste management solutions across the UK. Working as a Graduate/ Site Chemist, you will be responsible for taking and analysing hazardous waste samples on-site to ensure safe and compliant waste is processed at all times. The Job

Reporting to the Production Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Assist with the hands-on operation of the hazardous waste site, ensuring materials coming onto and off site are consistently safe and compliant to site permits and environmental regulations.
• Analyse, test and classify a wide variety of hazardous waste materials on-site.
• Assist with compiling lists of wastes to be transferred off site to third party disposal points.
• Assist with non- conformance procedures and sample processing for incoming waste streams.
• Unloading and loading lorries across the site, operating forklift tricks and supporting with deliveries.
• Support the site with any extra duties such as tidying and washing the yard.

 

The Candidate

To be considered for this position, candidates are expected to have an appropriate chemistry qualification to degree level as well as experience handling a diverse range of chemical compounds including understanding of inter-reactions.

This role would suit a recent graduate looking to further their career within the chemical sector and an interest in moving into the waste management industry.
