• Participating in construction final inspections (FIS) with the construction team.

• Coordinating piping support inspections and ATEX inspections with engineering, suppliers, and third-party certifiers
• Ensuring accurate as-built P&IDs are provided, collected, and transferred back to the Project Engineering Manager
• Actively promoting compliance with project HSEQ requirements across the team
• Must have 5+ years’ experience within construction on a large-scale industrial plant as a commissioning lead engineer.
• Must have experience on Energy from Waste (EFW) plants and process/operation knowledge of thermal plants
• Strong understanding of P&ID’s isometrics, construction drawings and industrial process systems.
• Candidates must also hold BOP (Balance of Plant) and boiler experience.

• Measure, cut, and install sheet metal cladding to specified dimensions and layouts on various boilers and pipes.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, cladding specifications, and site plans
• Operate hand and power tools, including grinders and cutting equipment
• Ensure all work meets safety standards and project requirements
• Work at height using access platforms, scaffolding, or MEWPs
• Collaborate with site supervisors and insulation teams to coordinate tasks
• Maintain clean and safe working areas in compliance with health & safety guidelines

Astute’s Power team are looking to recruit a Nightshift HSE Advisor on an Energy from Waste Project in North London on a 12-month contract.             Key skills

•  Perform the Audit protocol and scheduled required by Law.
• Be a QHSE ambassador and coach, support and train project staff on positive HSE actions, behaviours and compliance.
• Manage the compliance of the HSE requirements on field.
• Review the Risk Assessments included in the Method Statements of the subcontractors.
• Assist the Project and Construction Managers in HSE matters.
• Manage HSE training needs with the HSE Manager.
• Controlling site HSE systems and have regular discussions on site about HSE performance with Site Managers and Contract Managers.
• Conduct regular assessments of construction sites and inform site management of unsafe practices and unsafe conditions.
• Must hold a NEBOSH and have experience within the Energy from Waste sector.
• Mechanically minded with a strong understanding of HSE regulations and safe working practices relating to lifting operations.

  About the role: Astute’s Power team are partnering with an EPC Contractor to recruit a Compliance Engineer on a 12–18-month contract for one of their EFW sites. The Compliance Engineer role comes with competitive rate and will be based on their site in North East of London.                    Key skills:

• Oversee preparation of discharge and compliance with DCO (Development Consent Order)
• Support management of BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method)
• Assisting the CDM Manager with Engineering and Construction Compliance
• Co ordinate with Building Control authorities
• Maintain Carbon Model for the project.
• Hold experience in compliance management within the energy or construction sector.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a Subcontractor in the Energy from Waste sector to recruit an Electrical Project Manager on an 8 month contract for its West Bromwich site.    The Electrical Project Manager role comes with a day rate of £500.      Key skills    

• Installation of HV supply packages
• Experience managing multiple subcontractors.

• Have had experience working with 11kv power supply's
• Document day-to-day activity for the Electrical Install.
• Ideally have project experience such as Energy from Waste is a desirable.
• Ability to organise and manage time effectively.
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well with other teams within the company
• Ability to show good leadership
• A good understanding of the hazards which may arise during the work and the precautions which need to be taken

Astute’s Power team are looking to recruit multiple Insulator Cladders on a 5-month minimum contract with August 2025 starts on an Energy from Waste project in Kent.        Key skills required for the Insulator Cladders  

• Install thermal and acoustic insulation on pipework, ducting, and vessels to specification
• Measure, cut, and apply insulation materials
• Fabricate and fit sheet metal cladding
• Use abrasive wheels and power tools safely to cut and shape cladding materials
• Work at height using appropriate access equipment in accordance with safety standards
•  Adhere strictly to health & safety protocols, including proper use of PPE
• Collaborate with site teams to meet deadlines and maintain project efficiency
• Ensure all work complies with industry standards and site specifications
• Must hold a valid CSCS Card, Abrasive Wheels and Working at Heights certs.

Astute’s Power team are looking for an Electrical Site Supervisor on an approx 24 month contract basis to start immediately on an Energy from Waste project in North London.             Key skills

• • Oversee electrical works package on site, in accordance with the Site Delivery Operating Model’s Supervisor Accountability Model.
  • Drive subcontractor productivity and maintain direct control of daily delivery.
  • Escalate in real time where:
    • Programme dates are at risk.
    • Safety or quality is compromised.
    • Subcontractor performance falls short of expectations.
    • Interface conflicts remain unresolved.
  • Execute the daily control cycle for the electrical package.
  • Act as first-line technical and IR point of contact for electrical subcontractor operatives.
  • Escalate issues through the Package Manager to the Discipline Manager and Construction Manager, as required.
• Candidates must hold SSSTS / SMSTS Card.
• Candidates must have relevant experience as an Electrical Lead/Supervisor in the Energy from Waste / similar sector.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a modular building contractor to recruit a Site Manager on a short-term contract basis for its site in Basildon from December 2025. The Site Manager role comes with a day rate of between £350 per day (CIS).              Key skills  

• Overseeing site day-to-day activities and installation of modular builds
• Adhering to HSE requirements
• Ensuring transport and deliveries are kept on top of on site
• Liaison with the Site and Office teams regularly
• Raise and Sign-off permits
• Must ideally hold modular build experience
• Must be flexible for weekend working occasionally

The Site Surveyor role comes with a competitive day rate.             Key skills • Act as the main technical adviser on a construction site for subcontractors, craftspeople and operatives • Set out, level and survey the site • Check plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations • Liaise with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project • Carry out day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors - this is site-specific and may not be the case on all projects Location, remuneration and timeframe of the Site Surveyor role
