Roles & Responsibilities

As the Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance to quality management systems, policies and procedures to assure compliance to ISO 9001 standards
  • Liaising with internal and external customers on quality concerns
  • Coordinating monthly review and reporting of progress against quality improvement plans
  • Monitoring sub-contractors and inspection activities
  • Undertaking project work on topics including, quality plan, procedure writing, problem solving, investigation reporting, audit and governance programmes
  • Keeping measurement equipment in working condition by following operating instructions
  • Exchanging with the client quality inspector
  • Dealing with document inspection results

 

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Sound welding knowledge
  • Experience of developing and implementing processes and procedures
  • A good understanding of FIDIC and or NEC3 contracts.
  • Proven experience as a Quality Inspector
  • CSWIP Level 2 Welding Inspection

Roles & Responsibilities As a Water Treatment Technician, you will be responsible for:
  • Carrying out inspections on tanks and cooling towers across various sites
  • Reporting on the condition of the tanks and cooling towers
  • Carrying out small maintenance works and repairs
  • Basic sampling, temperature monitoring and recording
  • Monitoring of the pre-post chlorination of the cooling towers
  • Carrying out TMV servicing 
  • Ensuring that all documentation is completed and compliant.

Introduction

We are currently seeking a qualified Senior Site Chemist to work with one of the UK’s leading waste management service providers who focus on the disposal and collection of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Working as their Senior Site Chemist, you will be responsible for supporting the daily operations across the waste facility ensuring efficient and effective sampling, testing and analysis of the waste on-site to ensure safe and compliance processing at all times.

 

The Role

Working as their Senior Site Chemist, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting in the supervision of a team of on-site Chemists, assisting with the hands-on operation of the hazardous waste site ensuring materials coming onto and off-site are consistently safe and are compliant in-line with site permits and environmental regulations.
  • Compiling lists of wastes’ to be transferred off site to third party disposal points. Liaising with other staff to ensure correct routing of wastes.
  • Assisting with non- conformance procedures and sample processing within the site laboratory for incoming waste streams.
  • Ensuring the operation of a hazardous waste transfer station is able to receive and dispatch loads making sure environmental compliance is abided to.
  • Utilising appropriate systems to manage non-compliances.
  • Work to meet site and laboratory targets for processing.
  • Ensuring house-keeping requirements are maintained and continuous improvement programmes supported.
  • Undertake all administration tasks as needed such as chemist check sheets, process sheets, stock sheets etc.
  • Other tasks as needed.

 

The Candidate

To be considered for this position, candidates must have an appropriate chemistry qualification to degree level as well as experience handling a diverse range of chemical compounds including understanding of inter-reactions.

Candidates should have experience working in a Site-based Chemist role or working within an industrial lab with a good understanding of the Waste Management/ Hazardous Waste industry.

This role will require you to work in a hands-on operational capacity outdoors in all weather conditions.

Astute’s EPC Contract Power team is partnering with an EPC Contractor within the UK and Global Power Industry to recruit 2x Electrical Commissioning Technicians on a 5 months initial contract for its Open Cycle Gas Turbine plant based in Stewartby, Bedfordshire.

The Electrical Commissioning Technician roles comes with a day rate from £450.00 to £475.00.

 

 

Key skills and responsibilities: 

  • Hands-on commissioning of electrical components and systems such as, transformers, medium/low voltage switchgears, DC systems, rectifiers, inverters, motorized valves, instruments etc. Fully competent at using Primary & Secondary Injection test set equipment.
  • Assist the commissioning engineers in carrying out testing on electrical systems and equipment, as well as system optimization and troubleshooting and filling-in the respective commissioning documentation and protocols
  • Participation in the walk-downs for Turnover from construction to commissioning, identifying open items that prevent system start-up.
  • Preparation of the site for the electrical team to plan ahead for site works.
  • Report to the Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer for this project.

The Mechanical Supervisor comes with a day rate from £400.00. This role is outside of IR35. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
  • Supervise and coordinate all mechanical construction activities on site, ensuring safe and efficient execution in line with project plans, specifications, and standards.

  • Oversee the stack erection process, including lifting operations, alignment, bolting, and welding, ensuring compliance with engineering drawings and safety regulations.

  • Manage the installation of all mechanical systems, equipment, and piping associated with the OCGT plant, ensuring integration with other disciplines.

  • Monitor subcontractor performance, ensuring work quality, productivity, and adherence to contractual requirements.

  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and enforce site safety procedures in compliance with EPC contractor and client HSE policies.

  • Review and interpret mechanical drawings, method statements, and work packs to ensure accurate execution of the scope of works.

  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project progression.
