  Black &Veatch Construction has a Waste-to-Energy project in the UK.  We are seeking a Site Manager - WtE - UK who will be responsible for successful execution of the construction and start-up of the project. They will provide leadership to the project staff and all organizations on site; direct staff in the daily/weekly planning process; function as a representative for Black & Veatch in all interactions involving the Owner and Contract; implement Black & Veatch standards and procedures; develop project specific procedures and allocates resources; and makes decisions in support of project strategies.  Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for updating and completing the Construction Execution Plan. 
  • Reviews and refines the plan as the project progresses. 
  • Directs overall construction effort including coordination of erection activities, suppliers, direct hire craft labor, subcontractors, startup and testing activities, and the owner. 
  • Directs implementation of the Construction Processes and Procedures Manual (CPPM) and insures requests for deviations are submitted when necessary.
  • Manages overall construction and startup cost to meet established budgets. 
  • Reviews, analyzes, and reports monthly on project construction budget, schedule, and quality performance and takes appropriate action to return the project to plan. 
  • Directs implementation of established project controls processes and procedures including Installation Work Packaging (IWP) through Package Manager software tool.
  • Coordinates with leadership to negotiate and implement appropriate labor agreements.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships and develops a high level of trust and credibility with clients, owners, alliance partners, craft labor, subcontractors, and suppliers. 
  • Leads the site management team. 
  • Directs implementation of project construction Safety & Health and Loss Control procedures and is responsible for ensuring that the project meets the agreed safety targets. 
  • Directs implementation of project quality assurance procedures and is responsible for ensuring that the established level of quality is achieved. 
  • Directs implementation of project commissioning and testing plan and is responsible for ensuring that the necessary resources are provided to commissioning. 
  • Directs implementation of site materials management procedures. 
  • Approves field purchases, equipment rentals, extra work authorizations, subcontractor progress and final payments, B&V professional time sheets, and B&V professional expense reimbursements. 
  • Directs change order management for subcontracts. 
  • Coordinates with project manager to identify and execute change orders to contract with owner.
  • Directs the resolution of all back charges, collection of conformed to construction records, and other contract closeout activities. 
  • Establishes site staffing needs and coordinates with Project Manager and construction department to staff site office. 
  • Mentors site staff, promotes internal and external team building, and maintains morale. 
  • Adheres to Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and Performance Management programs in accordance with C&P Policies, Standards, Guides, and Contractual commitments. 
  • Is responsible for producing and implementing site specific procedures as required. Identifies and assesses improvement opportunities which will add value. 
  • Champions implementation of LEAN concepts and continuous improvement efforts. 
  • Assesses and supports the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements. 
  • Proactively supports, encourages and facilitates staff to engage in continuous improvement activities.
  • Acts as project manager with responsibilities for the management of a multi discipline project team.

Introduction

We are currently recruiting for an experienced on-site Industrial Services Manager to join one of the leading Waste Management specialists working within the Hazardous Waste sector across the UK. They are looking for an Industrial Services Manager to join their established team at their facility in Paisley, to support their hazardous waste treatment operations and industrial cleaning services to a number of clients across the north. This will be managing the daily running of its industrial service teams both on-site and off-site.

 

The Role

Working as the Industrial Services Manager, you will be responsible for delivering ongoing performance of the industrial service operations, including:
  • Daily management of the industrial services team, ensuring all work is completed in line with customer requirements., contract agreements and business processes.
  • Managing the safe, compliant and commercially sound day to day running of a busy industrial services team, driving operations in line with regulations, permits and operating licenses.
  • Managing performance and growth in line with company targets, ensuring customer service excellence is always achieved.
  • Monitoring resource plans against predicted workloads, projects and commercial requirements. Ensuring the team achieves against business plans and budgets.

The Candidate

To be considered for this position, candidates must have previous operations management experience working within the Industrial Services or Hazardous Waste industry, with strong knowledge of the Industrial Services sector.

Candidates should have demonstrable success developing industrial service solutions and have an in-depth understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance, ideally holding an IOSH or NEBOSH certification.

Candidates will ideally be UHPWJ / HPWJ certified or have a good understanding of high-pressure water jetting services.

Due to the nature of the role, candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and have a flexible attitude to work.

Experience with Renewable Energy technologies in the UK is mandatory.

Familiarity with E: Plan, PVSyst, AutoCAD or equivalent software is a plus.

Location: Field Based, will be expected to travel within the region

Working Hours: 45hours per week, some weeks will be working days, others will be night working and some weekend work will be required. Schedulers aim to plan jobs up to 2 weeks in advance where possible. Requirements

Main Duties

The duties will include, but are not limited to, working within the guidance provided by TR19 and associated company documents, and guidance, to ensure that any work on site is safe and free from the risks.

You may be expected to undertake some or all of the work below:

  • Carry out kitchen extract system cleaning and canopy cleans in accordance with TR19 Grease.
  • Carry out ventilation systems cleaning in accordance with TR19.
  • Installation of access doors into ventilation system in accordance with DW144.
  • Carry out inspection of the Fire dampers in accordance with BS9999
  • Follow a preventative maintenance program as instructed.
  • Maintain personal equipment & chemical stocks inventories.
  • You will also be expected to undertake any other duties associated to the output of the Regional Team as required.

They are looking to recruit a Construction Services Manager for a remote/UK wide role.   • Aid with the status, planning, preparation, execution and delivery of a number of solar farm construction management service contracts.
  • Manage relationships with existing and new clients
  • Strengthen existing and establish new sub-contractor / supply relationships
  • Carry out pre-condition site visits & surveys to establish site & local conditions which impact the delivery of the project
      Professional qualifications: We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • Degree-educated in electrical, mechanical or civil engineering.
  • Electrical experience & qualifications would be a benefit.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • Full UK licence
    Personal skills: The Construction Services Manager role would suit someone who is:  
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Qualification or higher
  • Proven track record in the construction of large-scale solar parks
  • Comfortable working periods away from home whilst ensuring project delivery
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills and a strong attitude towards operational health & safety
