Job Title: CT Technologist  Job Summary The CT Technologist is responsible for delivering safe, direct patient care in the CT Department by completing provider-ordered CT procedures and associated tasks according to established protocols. This role involves collaborating with Radiologists and Medical Providers to ensure accurate and high-quality imaging. Essential Responsibilities The following duties reflect the major responsibilities of this role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed:
  1. Patient Care: Provide compassionate, respectful, and professional patient care, ensuring high-quality service delivery and time management to meet SGHS business needs.
  2. CT Imaging: Perform accurate total body CT scans according to protocol and provider orders, consulting with Radiologists when necessary to address contraindications.
  3. Patient Interaction: Explain procedures clearly to patients, addressing questions and concerns to ensure understanding and satisfaction before and after the procedure.
  4. Order Verification: Contact ordering providers to resolve discrepancies in imaging orders to avoid delays in patient care.
  5. Equipment Operation: Operate CT equipment, contrast power injectors, and positioning aids safely and effectively to complete ordered procedures.
  6. Documentation: Obtain accurate patient medical histories, complete safety documents and consent forms, and ensure alignment of CT orders with medical history and indications.
  7. Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all radiation safety, contrast media, and HIPAA regulations, completing annual education and competency requirements.
  8. Imaging Quality: Maintain necessary skills to produce high-quality imaging, ensuring appropriate procedure and supply charges for billing purposes.
  9. Coordination: Coordinate patient transportation and engage applicable support personnel (e.g., nursing, respiratory, or physicians) to prevent delays.
  10. Equipment Maintenance: Report equipment issues to the Lead Technologist, Manager, or Director to maintain a safe working environment and minimize downtime.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiology program.
  • Experience: Registered Technologist with 1–2 years of experience preferred; CT certification preferred.
  • Licensure: ARRT (R) required. ARRT (CT) certification required within 12 months of hire or transfer. BLS certification required.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in CT imaging and techniques as defined by the department.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, computer systems, and imaging protocols.
