About Connor Trosper:

Connor has been an awesome recruiter. Things were a bit confusing with the onboarding process for me, and even though I had asked him more than a few times to understand what was expected, he took the time to always answer my texts, my calls, and help me navigate where I needed to be. I really appreciate his hospitality with applying for employment. He was always on me about deadlines, which looking back, I totally appreciate. Thanks Connor for everything, and a good opportunity!

About Patrick Coles:

Patrick was excellent in following up with the process. Since this was my first time with Cell Staff at finding a position, the process I believe was very detail oriented and quite time consuming. Unfortunately, I chose to not continue with the job after one week for several reasons and I will explain. The first night of orientation, my preceptor was doing her homework for her schooling and also falling asleep frequently and not precepting me. Also, the job for the RN was quite physically demanding. Nightly at around 3-4 am, the RN is required to carry insulin, needles and supplies to give insulin to diabetic inmates which require walking to all buildings that have no AC, poor lighting, and no elevators and with the current weather, it was extremely hot and physically demanding. I told Patrick about that and asked that he not say anything yet about the preceptor. I wanted to give the preceptor the benefit of the doubt and see if the second night she did the same thing, and she did. In the morning, I chose to talk to one of the supervisors at Nottoway, Ms. Porter, and she was extremely upset about the preceptor, and changed my third night of orientation to another night (which would be 6/11) with a different preceptor. She also changed my 4th and 5th night to orient on day shift on 6/14 and 6/15. Ms. Porter also asked me if anybody at Nottoway or Cell Staff talked to me about how physically demanding the job was, and I told her that nobody had talked to me about that. I did talk to Patrick after the second night and informed him of my third night being changed to 6/11 with a a different preceptor. I also asked Patrick if anybody at Nottoway had talked to him about the job of the RN being physically demanding and that the inmates do not line up to get their meds at a window and the RN's and LPN's taking meds to their cell in buildings with no AC or elevators. Patrick said he had no knowledge of that information. On the third night of orientation (6/11) I had a different preceptor. She was an excellent preceptor. However, there was an incident with an inmate who was on drugs and very aggressive, which required multiple guards and the RN's were requested for a possible emergency medical situation and required us to carry a very heavy back-pack with medical equipment which was very physically demanding. There were 10 or more guards and apparently pepper spray was needed and sprayed on the inmate which did get into my lungs even from the distance I was from the inmate. I called Patrick within an hour after getting off of the third shift, and explained how the night went and that I felt the job was too physically demanding and not safe. He explained that if I did not give 2 weeks notice, I would not be considered for rehire for 6 months. Cell Staff never disclosed the physical demands of the RN, yet management at Nottoway briefed me on the demands and even asked if I was informed about them. I thought about it and called Patrick back and told him I would have to give 2 weeks notice due to unresolved safety standards and an environment that compromises my well-being. I feel that due to the above reason, I should be eligible for rehire immediately. Of note, Ms. Porter called me on Monday morning, 6/15 and wanted to see if I was coming back. I asked if Cell-Staff did not call her and she said she just got in and maybe it is in her email or voice mail and she hadn't seen it. She said if a job that is more safe comes available, she will call me.
