Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company, to recruit for a Multi-skilled (electrically bias) Field Service Technician to work on several Combined Heat and Power (CHP) sites across the Merseyside area.     The vital Multi-skilled Field Service Technician comes with a salary of £44,000 - £48,000 (DoE) + overtime + van + excellent company benefits.   • Fault diagnosis, repair and maintenance of Combined Heat and Power plants and utility plants (Gas Engines and Boilers, Etc).
  • Routine operational tasks to comply with legislation and company procedures.
  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
  • Maintenance and publication of plant quality records and reports.
  • Issue of Permits to Work in accordance with company authorisation levels.
  • Compilation of reports detailing incidents and accidents in accordance with company
    Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • A minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Electrical/Control and Instrumentation, etc.
  • 18th Edition will be beneficial
  • High Voltage (HV) experience would be highly beneficial
  • A full UK driving licence is a necessity given the nature of the role
    Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge The Multi-skilled Technician role would suit someone who has:  
  • Prior hands-on maintenance experience working on large diesel engines such as Jenbacher, Deutz, MAN, MTU, Perkins, etc
  • Good knowledge of 3 phase electrical systems
  • Knowledge of combustion control maintenance and SCADA plant management systems
  • Knowledge of air and ground source heat pumps
  • Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers would also be encouraged to apply for this role

Electro Mechanical Technician

  • Carrying out planned & reactive maintenance on the EFW plant which will involve working on steam systems, rotating equipment, cranes, hydraulics & pneumatics, conveyors, electrical systems, motors, variable speed drives, switchgear etc.
  • Performing fault finding & diagnostics on plant & equipment.
  • Conducting routine servicing, plant modifications, installation & commissioning activities when required.

  • Supervising contractors which will include Permits to Work & Risk Assessments.

    Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • A relevant technical qualification such as an Apprenticeship / NVQ / ONC / HNC / HND, etc in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline
  • A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH will be advantageous but not a necessity
    Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge The Electromechanical Technician role would suit someone who has:  
  • Prior experience working in a heavy process engineering environment such as Power Stations, Paper Mills, FMCG, Pharmaceuticals, Steel, Cement, refineries, etc
  • Proven experience in a similar Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician role working on industrial mechanical & electrical plant. Being mechanically biased will be a necessity.
  • Ideally you will have knowledge of working with CMMS system
  • Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers would be suitable for this role as well
