Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Mechanical & Electrical Subcontractor within the Energy from Waste sector to recruit an Electrical Engineer on a 6-month contract for its Birmingham site. The Electrical Engineer role comes with a day rate of £400.             Key skills  
  • Assist with the installation of electrical scope which includes Electrical Equipment, CMS (primary & secondary), cable installation, cable terminations, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, instrumentation and controls etc.
  • Review electrical drawings for buildability and proposed installation methodology
  • Liaise closely with the planner to ensure all take-offs are incorporated within the programme and the installed measure is correct to ensure accurate progress is recorded
  • Liaise with the client for solutions to any design issues encountered and formalise through the correct project process
  • Co-ordinate with internal teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure a smooth execution of the electrical works scope
  • Assist with the planning, forecasting labour levels etc. to undertake the works
  • Oversee the installation of the electrical equipment to ensure it is safely installed and all testing is undertaken correctly and in line with manufacture recommendations
  • Ensuring all works are being undertaken safely and in accordance with the project H&S requirements
  • Must have worked on large industrial projects

Astute’s Power Team is partnering with a leading global provider of Energy-from-Waste (EfW) solutions, this organisation delivers turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects across the full lifecycle, to recruit a Commissioning Engineer for its Glasgow Anaerobic Digestion Project on either a long-term contract or permanent basis.   Responsibilities and duties of the Commissioning Engineer role   You will:  
  • Perform hands on commissioning tasks in the field across mechanical, electrical, and process systems within assigned scope.
  • Manage and coordinate commissioning activities for allocated systems in line with the commissioning programme and project milestones.
  • Ensure systems are commissioned in accordance with design documentation, employer’s requirements, project specifications, and contractual obligations.
  • Oversee and coordinate subcontractors during commissioning activities, ensuring works are carried out safely, to specification, and to schedule.
  • Act as a technical interface between subcontractors, engineering disciplines, and the commissioning management team.
  • Identify deviations, technical issues, and risks, proposing and implementing corrective actions in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare, manage, and complete commissioning documentation, including test protocols, check sheets, punch lists, and handover dossiers.
  • Ensure commissioning QA/QC documentation is completed accurately and on time prior to system handover, PAC, or takeover
  • Willingness to travel and work on site throughout the Commissioning stage
  • Must have experience on large-scale industrial plants as a Commissioning Engineer ideally on RG (Renewable Gas) plants e.g. AD (Anaerobic digestion, gas upgrading, utilities or balance of plant).
  • AD (Anaerobic digestion) plant commissioning and operating knowledge
  • Hold a SMSTS/IOSH/NEBOSH qualification
  • Valid SCC training certificate or equivalent

The Site and Facilities Assistant role is offered on a 24 month fixed term contract (FTC) basis and comes with a salary of £30,000-£35,000 starting in April 2026.   • Acting as the office administrator for the site including managing office supplies, filing, organization of travel, recording and storing of documentation
  • Acting as the Facilities Assistant - maintaining the overall operation and upkeep of the site compound, ensuring all facilities are safe, clean, and fully functional. Supporting daily site activities, including managing utilities, coordinating maintenance tasks, and assisting with general site logistics.
  • Providing full administrative support to the Site Manager.
  • Welcome visitors and clients including arranging catering as required

  • Keep the Site Manager informed of all site related activities.

  • Operate and control boilers, turbines, generators, and associated plant systems via DCS and local control panels
  • Support commissioning and start-up activities, ensuring systems are brought online safely and efficiently
  • Monitor plant performance, alarms, and process parameters, taking corrective action where required
  • Assist with mechanical commissioning tasks (e.g. pump works, filter changes, greasing, system checks)
