Team Leader - Solar

We’re looking for someone who already has experience in utility scale solar or BESS maintenance and is looking to take a step up in their career. This Team Leader - Field Service Technician comes with an excellent salary, depending on your experience and at the request of the client, will be discussed upon conversation with Astute.   • Line manage a small team of solar and BESS technicians by planning day to day maintenance routines, ensuring technicians adhere to HSQE requirements.
  • Rota management.
  • Recruitment and mentoring of technicians.
  • Lead safety briefs and toolbox talks – always demonstrate and champion the importance of onsite safety.
  • Be a point of contact for the O&M Manager, Asset Manager and other colleagues for any on site matters and reporting.
  • Complete progress reports and other documentation.
  • Ensure the best performance of battery storage and large-scale solar assets
  • Perform operations and maintenance duties across the portfolio of solar and battery sites in Grantham.
  • Ensure adherence to all HSE requirements when completing your duties
  • Test both DC and AC systems, looking for faults and tracing issues
  • Conduct firmware updates and use computer systems to look for issues with the assets
  • Gain Authorised Person status after received training
  • Consistent inspection, maintenance and testing of the systems
  • Looking for trends and using data analysis to see if you can spot any common trends and suggest ways to improve operations as a result
  • Occasional assistance with tasks such as solar panel cleaning, some ground maintenance and site CCTV
  • Occasional working way from your patch/area and be flexible to help when the business needs this
Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • Demonstrable experience in utility scale solar farm maintenance operations.
  • Extensive electrical testing, inspection and maintenance experience on ground mounted solar panels, inverters, BESS and other on site equipment.
  • Level 3 Qualified in Electrical Engineering or Testing & Inspection etc is essential. C&G 2391 or 2394 is highly valued.
  • Experience in stock ordering and ensuring spares availability.
  • Addition experience in HV switchgear or SCADA systems would be advantageous.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

The company are seeking a Process Engineer to join them to develop and build a portfolio of multi-year contracts and projects in the UK. Responsibilities and duties: Reporting to the Head of Engineering you will:
  • Lead the process and mechanical engineering on new build anaerobic digestion projects from feasibility stages to performance testing and into operations
  • Produce various technical documents, including mass balances, process calculations, process flow diagrams, P&IDs as well as heat and energy balances
  • Prepare technical specifications and advise with engineering decision-making and justification
  • Take the lead during project phase, chairing internal and external engineering reviews
  • Coordinate and liaise with suppliers, specialist subcontractors and internal and external stakeholders, representing the client with the utmost integrity
  • Compile and collate final documentation, as built drawings and test sheets for O&M manuals
  • Manage and oversee the production of QA documentation, including FAT documentation and more

Professional qualifications: We are looking for someone with the following:
  • A degree in a relevant field, ie a relevant engineering of chemical degree
  • Experience in anaerobic digestion, biomethane/biogas, biomethane injection or liquid organic waste management would be highly desirable
  • Process review experience and experience with HAZOPs, ALMs and DSEAR regulations
  • Knowledge of CAD and 3D modelling would be advantageous but not essential
  • UK driving licence

Civil Design and CAD Engineer

Astute’s Renewables team is exclusively partnering with a business who are looking to decarbonise the UK’s road freight sector, to recruit a Civils Design Engineer with excellent CAD skills to join their team, based from their office near Wakefield. The Civils Design Engineer role comes with a salary of up to £45,000 plus a great benefits package and genuine opportunity to grow with the business. This is an excellent opportunity to join a hugely unique business where you will join a relatively small team with huge aspirations. The company are developing a highly unique network of refuelling stations and we’re looking for someone who is very switched on, who wants to learn and who has an excellent base skill level in AutoCAD.                 Responsibilities and duties Reporting to the Chief Engineer you will:  
  • Work alongside the design team to develop technical designs of green refuelling sites
  • Liaise closely with the Architect, Engineers and site team to deliver accurate 2D and 3D drawings
  • Help to design and draw site layouts, levels and drainage plans
  • Develop schematics for technical drawings for construction projects
  • Produce CAD layouts and Sketchup 3D models for Presentation, Architectural and Engineering purposes

  • Operate the anaerobic digestion plant on a day to day basis

  • Deputise for the Plant Manager in their absence
  • Maintain all relevant site health, safety, quality and environmental standards
  • Assist with ensuring that operational budgets and forecasting is accurate, in order for it to be reported to senior management
  • Perform continual site audits to ensure that the site is running to an excellent standard and always looking for ways to improve site operations
  • Perform all duties an Operator would, leading from the front and upskilling and mentoring the team where possible
