Plant Operator - THRM

About the role: Astute’s Renewables Team is partnering exclusively with a key business and influential player in the UK Anaerobic Digestion market. The company are seeking to add a Plant Operator on an evening to middle of the night shift, likely 8pm to 4am, Monday to Friday. The Plant Operator role comes with an excellent salary and the chance to progress within the business as their portfolio builds out.   • Monitor the anaerobic digestion plant, ensuring optimal run time
  • Support the Plant Manager to implement and achieve operational and personal targets
  • Ensure that the plant is clean and tidy
  • Feed the plant using a Telehandler
  • Ensure that the extruders are running smoothly and attending to any issues
  • Maintain all relevant site health, safety, quality and environmental standards
  • Ensure that health and safety is adhered to at all times
  • Perform visual checks of the plant, logging all findings
  • Perform any housekeeping duties that need doing
  • Other duties are required
Professional qualifications: We are looking for someone with the following:
  • Telehandler licence or proven experience using and driving a Telehandler
  • A recognised engineering qualification is preferred but not essential
  • Experience working night shifts is highly preferred
  • Demonstrable experience of working alone and in upholding great H&S standards
  • Experience in an agricultural, production or process environment
  • UK driving licence
Personal skills: The Plant Operator role would suit someone who is:
  • A problem-solver and self-starter
  • Excellent verbal and written English language

This Field Service Technician / Solar Technician comes with an excellent salary, depending on your experience, with the chance of overtime but with a work-life balance being key for the client. If you’re wanting to work for a genuine major player in the global energy space with growth potential, please read on and apply below.                 Responsibilities and duties Reporting to the Area Manager you will:  
  • Ensure the best performance of large-scale solar assets
  • Perform operations and maintenance duties across the portfolio of solar sites in Chichester and the surrounding areas, perhaps travelling further on occasion for business need
  • Ensure adherence to all HSE requirements when completing your duties
  • Test both DC and AC systems, looking for faults and tracing issues
  • Conduct firmware updates and use computer systems to look for issues with the assets
  • Gain Authorised Person status after received training
  • Consistent inspection, maintenance and testing of the systems
  • Looking for trends and using data analysis to see if you can spot any common trends and suggest ways to improve operations as a result
  • Occasional assistance with tasks such as solar panel cleaning, some ground maintenance and site CCTV
  • Occasional working way from your patch/area and be flexible to help when the business needs.

Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • Level 3 in electrical installations as a minimum
  • 18th edition wiring regs
  • Ideally you will have C&G 2391 or equivalent
  • A HSE qualification is desired
  • Experience within a solar or BESS environment is hugely preferred
  • UK driving licence is essential

Personal skills The Solar Technician role would suit someone who is:  
  • Flexible with location and in travelling outside of your patch on occasion
  • Experience liaising with third parties and troubleshooting
  • Experience reading, writing and assessing RAMS is hugely beneficial
  • Someone who wants to learn and make a genuine difference

The client delivers varying services, from O&M to full design and system integration. This position is field based and we’re looking for a Solar Technician / Solar Engineer with a basic salary of up to £45,000 and you’d also receive a hugely impressive benefits package. Large scale / utility scale solar experience is key in achieving the top end of the salary bracket.   • Planned and reactive works across a variety of ground mount solar assets
  • Testing and inspecting the electrical systems, tracing faults and rectifying where possible

  • Fault finding on both AC and DC systems

  • Knowledgeable about SCADA and CCTV systems as well as solar

Astute are exclusively partnered with a global OEM Renewables Business who are looking for a Wind Turbine Technician / Electrical Technician to join their business. The main purpose of the role would be to work in a team who will service and maintain their onshore wind turbines.

To be considered for this role you must have Level 3 Electrical qualifications and be from the wind industry, or you’ll be from another sector performing electrical maintenance in a heavy industrial environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Field Area Manager, as a Wind Turbine Technician / Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on wind turbines
  • The installation and retrofitting of key electrical components
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification
  • Generating detailed reports on the work completed
  • Covering multiple sites in your region when required, perhaps staying overnight and having periods away from home
  • Working at heights
  • Other duties as required

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for an Electrical Technician with the following:

  • A level 3 electrical qualification is essential
  • 18th edition hugely desirable
  • Commercial or industrial experience and the desire to work in renewable energy
  • A full UK driving licence is essential
  • Excellent health and safety awareness and the ability to work at heights (full training to be provided)
  • A cracking work ethic and the flexibility to stay away when required
