Introduction

We’re currently looking to recruit an experienced Motor Vehicle Technician to service and maintain a range of Police vehicles from their state-of-the-art depot in Rainham. As an experienced Vehicle Technician, you will be tasked with the upkeep of a fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are reliable and can be called upon when needed.

 

The Job

Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for.
  • Servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide fleet of vehicles – Ford, BMW, Vauxhall, Ford, and Mercedes Benz Sprinter vans
  • Diagnosing faults and error codes.
  • Complete MOT’s checks, and services
  • Be able to perform complete engine strip downs and fault find any problems
  • Conducting maintenance / service work as per the maintenance schedule.

The candidate

Candidates will have the following skills and experience.
  • Hold Master Technician qualifications or senior technician level
  • C&G 1 & 2 in Motor Vehicle Studies or equivalent NVQ Levels 3.
  • Manufacturer training through Ford, Vauxhall or BMW is preferable
  • Be able to perform in depth fault finding and diagnostics
  • Experience working with new vehicles over the last three years.
  • Hybrid vehicle experience desirable

Roles & Responsibilities

As the Mill & Warehouse Operator, you will be responsible for:

PURPOSE

To produce compound feeds and blended and rolled products, control the weighing in and intake of feed materials, packing operations, loading vehicles, quality control on site, warehouse operations and stock control.

NATURE & SCOPE

The job holder reports to the Operations Director (or Merchant Product Manager in the case of warehouse staff) and may be expected to cover a number of roles within the mill or warehouse including:

Weighbridge and Intake

Ensuring that vehicles discharge according to approved codes of practice
  • Sampling & inspection and testing when required of loads prior to tipping
  • Routing to correct storage bins
  • Reporting all raw materials delivery problems and maintaining adequate intake records
  • Inspecting, loading and sampling finished product collection or delivery vehicles.
  • Ensuring that a high level of housekeeping is maintained at weighbridge, intake and outloading areas.

Compound Feed

Producing feed to meet transport requirements, suit bin availability, and limit cross contamination.
  • Hand weighing of premixes and feed additives and keeping all necessary records.
  • Ensuring that high levels of housekeeping are maintained in the hand weighing and all other areas of the mill – including the control room.
  • Maintaining stocks of feed materials and ground products.
  • Keeping a record of batch numbers on production logs.
  • Topping up microweigher bins with the correct premixes
  • Stock rotation, ensuring that premixes and medicinal additives are within the stated expiry dates.
  • Ensuring that presses & conditioners are operating effectively.
  • Ensuring that the correct press and the correct die are being used, to meet the feed specification.
  • Monitoring the correct running of the presses, coolers, conveyors and elevators
  • Ensuring that finished feed bins are completely empty, before new feeds are introduced
  • Ensuring that the appropriate slides are closed/open
  • Maintaining appropriate production records.

Blending

Maintaining adequate bay stocks & controlling the sampling, inspection and intake of feed materials and premixes into the blending shed.
  • Weighing and mixing blends and transfer to the correct storage bays.
  • Hand weighing of premixes or feed additives according to the production formulation, and keeping all necessary records.
  • Inspecting, loading and sampling finished product collection or delivery vehicles.
  • Ensuring that high levels of housekeeping are maintained in the blending shed.
  • Maintaining appropriate production records.

Rolling

Sampling, inspection and testing of loads prior to tipping
  • Moisture adjustment by either drying or liquid addition
  • Processing and storage prior to rolling
  • Rolling and transfer to correct storage areas.
  • Ensuring that high levels of housekeeping are maintained in the rolling plant.
  • Maintaining appropriate production records.

Packing

Ensuring that all bags are packed, stitched, labelled and stacked correctly.
  • Ensuring that bag weights are correct including regular check weighing.
  • Ensuring that high levels of housekeeping are maintained on the packing plant.
  • Maintaining appropriate packing records and taking samples.

Warehouse

Inspection of delivery paperwork and loads prior to unloading.
  • Correct storage and stock rotation.
  • Monitoring stock levels and best before dates
  • Grass seed storage, blending, packing and distribution.
  • Loading vehicles and completing collection / delivery paperwork
  • Ensuring that high levels of housekeeping are maintained in the warehouse and yard area.
  • Maintaining appropriate batch records.

The job holder is responsible for cleaning according to a planned cleaning schedule maintaining adequate records for audit purposes.

The job holder may be required to assist the maintenance staff with maintenance & calibration jobs and the Quality Controller in taking samples for quality or salmonella testing – for which training will be given.

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • The job holder requires an understanding of all aspects of compound feed, blended and rolled product production as well as intake and warehouse operation.
  • Full training is provided by the Company.
