To operate production machines in order to achieve daily, weekly, monthly, and annual output targets.

Duties, Responsibilities & Authority:
  • Operate a coating machine and produce the correctly coated ink ribbon.
  • Operate production machines according to the appropriate “machine operator’s manual” under direction of the Group Leader and Technical staff.
  • Perform product changeovers to the coating machine. Activities not limited to roll exchanges, roll cleaning, doctor blade exchanges, threading, filter changes, parts cleaning and material handling. Some activities requiring periods of physical exertion. Coordinating with maintenance, operation, management and others as necessary.
  • Obtain a full knowledge of the mixing, coating and ink supply system in order to be proficient in troubleshooting basic equipment and process problems.
  • Charge ink raw materials and organic solvents into an ink production device in a measured & controlled manner thus producing a coat-able solution per established specification.
  • Lead in basic maintenance activities by having input and explanation to “what needs to be done”. Then assist as possible, making sure activities are scheduled and completed in a timely manner.
  • Strongly participate in productivity improvement plans and cost reduction plans (Total Productive Maintenance activity). Investigate and analyze causes for defective product or production inefficacies.
  • Perform Quality Control testing and judging product quality.
  • Verify the quality of the product with visual and machine inspections, reacting with machine inputs and adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality

Job Requirements / Qualifications:
  • Required: High school diploma and a minimum of 2 years machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in chemicals mixing/blending operations preferred.
  • Prior product manufacturing experience required.
  • Operator must pass a physical exam and be able to bend, stoop, squat, twist and work in cramped spaces to thread machines.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, operate a roll cart with weight in excess of 500 pounds and must be able to occasionally work in confined spaces. Repetitive arm and shoulder motion when cleaning rolls.
  • Must be able to operate appropriate test equipment and react to the readings generated or displayed on monitors, gauges, panels or sensors. Must be able to use and read instruments including micrometers, microscope, light table, hand tools and other specialized equipment used in Print Media coating.
  • Perform mathematical calculations including percentages, multiplication and division.
  • Must be able to work in close proximity with organic solvents and able to wear air-purifying respiratory protection equipment as needed.

Position Overview: 

As a Warehouse Associate, you will support a broad range of activities in a dynamic, high energy warehouse environment providing all material to production departments for manufacturing the best rail vehicles in the world. This role focuses on the receiving, put away, picking, kitting, or delivery of material to production. Additionally, the role may focus on the interaction with the MRP system for accurately tracking the material movements. 

What your day-to-day will look like: 

  • Follow all safety requirements, including use of all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Contribute to and maintain conditions that ensure a healthy and safe work environment. 
  • Specific area or responsibility may include receiving, put away, picking, kitting, or delivery of material to production. 
  • Ensure transactional accuracy for all material movements - i.e. ensure the correct quantity of material is moved to the specified location, and MRP system transactions are completed correctly.

  • Meet production schedule for material delivery to production.

Pay: $20-$24/hr BOE Shift: 6am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday Position Summary: Responsible for printing a wide variety of printed materials on digital and offset presses, primarily a Xeikon 9800 Digital Press, a Didde 8 color UV web press, and an ITEK sheet fed press, and ensuring its produced at the highest quality and is on brand. This position contributes to the company by providing quality printing at a cost lower than a commercial printing organization.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the technical operation of commercial grade presses such as, ITEK sheet fed press, Didde 8 color UV web press, and Xeikon 9800 Digital Press.
  • Responsible for setting up presses in preparation for print run such as mounting plates for correct registration and sequence on plate cylinders.
  • Fill ink fountain with correct ink colors and formulas as indicated on the production sheet.
  • Load press with correct paper as indicated on the production sheet.
  • Operator must match ink color and read a digital densitometer for ink density.

Preventative Maintenance

  • Responsible for preventative maintenance such as, troubleshooting, and general repairs, working with field technicians on press issues by phone and in person. Should be able to change ink roller on the Didde 8 color UV web press to be sent out for repairs. Maintain the UR lamps for Didde 8 color press and change the air filters weekly and change filters on the water system for the Didde 8 color press.
  • Maintain battery levels in Forklift, maintains clean area, change Bindery blades for the cutters, sharpening perf blades, changing develop units, polishing drums on press, and maintaining the air compressors.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in Bindery operation and/or other areas as needed.
  • Operates heavy equipment including use of forklift to receive and transport paper deliveries and use of palette jack to move printed materials to bindery department.
  • Maintaining Technical records to include details of paper, ink, and plate usage.
  • Order supplies for Xeikon / Itek / 8 color UV web press VIP and Maintain Paper Stock
  • Proper disposal of items no longer valid for use.
  • Responsible for the observation and correction of all unsafe conditions that could cause employee and/or customer accidents.

Basic Qualification

  • Knowledge of digital press software/workflow
  • 3-5 years trade experience within a print facility

Preferred Qualification

  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite software
  • Licensed to operate forklift.

Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of computers, all digital, screen and offset printers.
  • Good written and verbal skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To set up and operate slitting machines according to the appropriate “machine operator’s manual” under direction of the Group Leader.
  • Carry and supply materials to the machines.
  • Remove the finished product from the machine. Supplies and finished goods of up to 38 lbs. must be lifted about 75 times per shift. (Maximum weight to be lifted is 50lbs.)
  • Group Leaders will determine the machine each operator is assigned to. Operators will be cross trained to operate different machines.
  • Recommend productivity improvement plans and cost reduction plans (Total Productive Maintenance activity). Investigate and analyze causes of target frustration.
  • Help train other machine operators.
  • Facilitate internal communication and working relationships within areas of responsibility.
