P6 Planner

Astute’s Power team is looking to recruit a P6 Planner on a pipework installation project in Hertfordshire on a 9-12 month contact basis for a start in November.     Key skills required for the P6 Planner:    
  • Working with the PM and pipe coordinators to create a resource loaded baseline (contract) schedule in Primavera P6.
  • Progress will be measured using physical percent complete. User defined fields will establish the physical percent complete by recording meters installed against individual sub-system total meterage’s.
  • Record progress and monitor performance against scheduled percent complete. 
  • Manage the schedule daily, record delays by intersecting activities with delay durations inserted as activities to assist commercial EOT claims.
  • Carry out routine critical path analysis and identify mitigation measures to recover any negative float / delays.
  • Produce look ahead schedules as identified by the contract and / or requested by the Project Manager.
  • Produce progress / quantity curves for weekly reports.
  • Experience on piping or pipework scope of works will be highly beneficial
  • Must have CSCS Card or able to obtain one.

EIC Site Supervisor

  • Take ownership of EIC site activities across electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
  • Act as the key on-site interface between contractors, site management, and engineering teams
  • Support installation, testing, and commissioning to meet programme milestones
  • Drive safe, efficient execution aligned to project timelines and quality standards
  • Provide practical, on-the-ground leadership to ensure work is delivered right first time
  • Lead and enforce HSEQ standards, ensuring all works are carried out in line with approved RAMS

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading principal contractor in the water treatment sector who are looking to recruit a 2D/3D BIM Modeller on a 12-month minimum contract for its London site.      The BIM Modeller role comes with a competitive day rate.      Key skills required for the BIM Modeller   
  • Create models aligned with the BIM Execution Plan and information requirements.
  • Enters data into the elements of the model, complying with the requirements established for this purpose by the Information Manager.
  • Participates in coordination meetings.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of BIM processes (3D, 4D…).
  • Demonstrates knowledge in the use of authoring BIM software.
  • Familiar with the Common Data Environment (CDE) organization.
  • Issues BIM design models in form and time.
  • Generate the resources needed for modelling, such as families, schedules with the supervision and under the guidelines of the BIM Manager.

Outage QA/QC Engineer

Astute’s Power team are looking to recruit an Outage QA /QC Engineer in Leeds on a contract basis. Key skills required for the Outage QA/QC Engineer role  
  • Perform inspections of boiler pressure parts including membrane walls, superheaters, economisers, headers, drums, and associated pipework.
  • Carry out manufacturing surveillance at vendor workshops, including monitoring fabrication activities against ITPs and project requirements.
  • Verify welding activities including fit-up, welding parameters, weld mapping, and compliance with approved WPS/PQRs.
  • Confirm welder qualifications and ensure consumables and welding processes meet specification requirements.
  •  Witness and review NDE activities (UT, RT, MT, PT) and confirm acceptance to relevant standards.
  • Verify material traceability including heat numbers, MTRs, and PMI requirements where applicable.
  • Witness pressure testing/hydrostatic testing and ensure test preparation and documentation is completed correctly.
  • Record inspection results, produce reports, and support compilation of QA/QC documentation and turnover packs.
  • Raise quality concerns and NCRs, supporting corrective action implementation and close-out.
  • Liaise with contractors, site supervision, and client representatives to ensure quality expectations are met.
  • Must hold QA/QC inspection experience in heavy industrial environments.
  • Must hold Confined Space, Face Fit Testing Certificate, CSCS Card (or equivalent) and CSWIP Welding Inspector Qualification

  • Ensure compliance with HSE, quality standards and contractual requirements

  • Oversee commercial aspects of remaining project packages including structural steelwork, cladding, and administration building fit-out works
  • Provide commercial support across minor civil works and associated infrastructure elements
  • Administer and manage preliminaries packages, including scaffolding, design services, and other site-wide costs
  • Assist in the close-out of the main civil works account, ensuring all final accounts are accurately prepared, agreed, and settled
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations and final accounts with clients and subcontractors
  • Monitor and control project costs, identifying risks, variations, and opportunities to maintain budget compliance
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, including tendering, analysis, and appointment
  • Review and assess variations, change orders, and compensation events
  • Ensure timely and accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Liaise closely with site teams, project managers, and commercial leads to ensure alignment on project delivery

  • Support the commissioning team in all mechanical issues (filter cleaning and exchange, dismount pumps, etc.) 
  • Reports any variations and issues to the Commissioning Manager 
  • Maintains all mechanical tools in a clean state and ready to use 
  • Liaises and coordinates with other project team members, in particular the Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Lead Engineers and Operations personnel 
  • Review and implement maintenance routines and schedules as per supplier OM and plant maintenance and preservation requirements 
  • Ensures routines are maintained and recorded on the plant management systems i.e. PAMELA and or CMMS etc 
  • Carry out required maintenance tasks in the field and record completion of maintenance tasks in shift books, produce activity progress report on regular basis as required by Commissioning manager 
  • Collect samples as required by the commissioning manager or lead engineer i.e. water, oil, waste, IBA etc 
  • Must have mid-level experience in a maintenance role in EFW, Power plant and/or heavy industrial setting.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading principal contractor who are looking to recruit a Design & Pre-Construction Electrical Engineer on a 12-month contract for its Wastewater Treatment project in Northeast of London.        Key skills required for the Design & Pre-Construction Electrical Engineer  
  • Review electrical designs for compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Prepare scopes of work, work plans, and phasing strategies for electrical packages.
  • Manage material submittals and review supplier offers, preparing Technical Bid Evaluations.
  • Assist with BOQs, cost estimates, procurement schedules, and budget verification.
  • Develop Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and RAMS.
  • Contribute to construction and commissioning strategy planning.
  • Supervise electrical works on site, ensuring compliance with standards and safety requirements.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and inspections.
  • Witness and supervise testing and pre-commissioning activities.
