• • Oversee piping works package on site, in accordance with the Site Delivery Operating Model’s Supervisor Accountability Model.
  • Drive subcontractor productivity and maintain direct control of daily delivery.
  • Escalate in real time where:
    • Programme dates are at risk.
    • Safety or quality is compromised.
    • Subcontractor performance falls short of expectations.
    • Interface conflicts remain unresolved.
  • Execute the daily control cycle for the piping package.
  • Act as first-line technical and IR point of contact for piping subcontractor operatives.
  • Escalate issues through the Package Manager to the Discipline Manager and Construction Manager, as required.

• Oversee safe and efficient installation of solar systems on residential and commercial properties.
• Plan and organise installation works.
• Read and interpret technical drawings.
• Ensure all solar panels, mount structures and electrical components are installed and commissioning correctly.
• Perform quality checks, resolving on- site issues and maintain compliance with safety standards and regulations.

• Be responsible for managing the design processes of subcontractors within the civil works on site.

• Be responsible for the civil works to be executed in accordance with the contract, and conform with project time, budget, HSE and quality requirements.

• Be responsible for managing the design interface with external and/or in-house design teams and you pro-actively establish the design release schedule and monitor the design progress to ensure agreed target milestones are met and mitigate risk and delays.

• Be able evaluate the design provided by others and facilitate technically profound construction solutions with consideration to the complexity of works.

• Represent the civil design department, when necessary, at internal and external meetings with limited travelling (up to 10% of your time).

Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering or architecture.

• Hold at least 5 years’ experience in the construction industry (preferably Energy from Waste).

• Hold strong experience in civil project management and design coordination.

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a Principal Contractor to recruit a CDM Manager on an 18 Month contract for its London site.    The CDM Manager role comes with a day rate of £550.00.      Key skills    

•  Produce & Review Competency matrix: Where applicable undertake suitable pre-qualification exercise and advise Project Engineering Manager in respect of project competency status. • Review sub-contractor competency: Develop & review documentation relating to sub-contract design organisations capability, knowledge, skills and experience and make recommendations on CDM compliance. • Keep updated the project design risk register: The register will be the primary tool to manage CDM compliance throughout the project duration and will, once developed form a monthly deliverable from all designers. • Develop Designer CDM gateway review process: Undertake assessments arising from all design stakeholders and manage/coordinate H&S information as applicable. Designer residual risk will feed into the Project Risk Register. • H&S Files: Develop and manage the project H&S file strategy. Ensure the timely development of any project specific template and carry out regular reviews of the DRM to ensure the health and safety file is compiled as the project progresses. • Contractor Mobilisation: Feed PCI into the mobilisation process and collaborate with Contractors (including PC’s) in the development of design risk information and constructability reviews. • Training: Produce and deliver project specific CDM, or other training where a need is identified, including to offshore (non-UK) design organisations. • Collaborative Working: Ensure that all parties work together to common goals to reduce risk in design and constructability. • Writing up ITP’s (Inspection and Test Plan)
• Ensure all snags are cleared on site and all submissions are compliant.
• Work closely with the Principal Contractors Quality Engineer daily.
• Provide operational support to QC checks of incoming materials and support in the management of quality documents of the subcontractors.
• Support to the site quality office for construction and commissioning phases.
