  • Work closely with the project manager, supervisors and contractors as well as client representatives to maintain a safe working environment, prevent incidents, promote positive behaviours, and ensure strict adherence to RAMS, permits, emergency arrangements, site rules and Inspection Test Plans (ITP’s).
  • Provide HSEQ support to Supervisors during planning, execution and sequencing of construction activities in particular construction activities to meet ITP requirements.
  • Lead and participate in site inspections, audits, behavioural safety observations and sensible monitoring programmes.
  • Ensure controls are in place for high-risk activities including lifting operations, mobile plant and traffic management and working at heights.
  • Participate in look-ahead planning meetings to identify upcoming HSEQ risks and requirements.
  • Support the adoption of temporary works procedures and ensure relevant checks, inspections and controls are in place.

Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting for 4x Commissioning Operators/Control Room Operators to join the EPC Contractor Waste to Energy facility based in Chester, Cheshire.

The Commissioning Operator/Control Room Operator roles come with a day rate from £475.00 to £500.00 (Outside IR35). Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:  
  • Support commissioning activities across Balance of Plant (BoP) systems, including fuel gas systems, water treatment, cooling systems, compressed air, and auxiliary plant.
  • Operate and monitor plant systems from the control room (DCS/SCADA) during pre-commissioning, commissioning, and first gas introduction.
  • Assist with plant start-up, shutdown, and functional testing, ensuring systems are brought online in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Execute commissioning procedures, test plans, and check sheets, ensuring all activities are completed in line with project and OEM requirements.
  • Monitor plant parameters and respond to alarms, supporting fault finding and troubleshooting during dynamic commissioning phases.
  • Coordinate closely with commissioning engineers, OEMs, and field operators to ensure safe and efficient system handover and integration.
  • Support permit-to-work, LOTO, and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with site safety rules during all commissioning activities.

Roles & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Field Area Manager, as a Wind Turbine Technician / Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on wind turbines
  • The installation and retrofitting of key electrical components
