O&M Project Manager

Astute’s Power Team is partnered with a global company, to recruit for an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Project Manager to assist with the mobilisation and performance of their Energy from Waste assets in the UK and abroad. The vital O&M Project Manager role comes with a salary of up to c.£92,000 + bonus + private medical +other benefits. This is a hybrid role which will involve travel across the UK as well as international travel.   • O&M contracts during the pre-mobilisation phase and as such be closing the gap between Tender Management and the O&M Plant Manager.
  • Supporting across the O&M organisation ensuring the availability and quality of documentation, reporting, lessons learned, sharing of best practice.
  • Develop and maintain templates and tools to meet the company’s systems and O&M solutions requirements and organise and lead the process of getting information collected and structured as requested or required for the project reviews and business reviews.
  • The O&M Project Manager will organise and participate in workshops with the target of developing and documenting O&M strategies and continuous improvement strategies
    Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • Ideally a Degree in a relevant Engineering subject – those with HND/HNCs will also be considered
  • A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH will be advantageous but not a necessity
  • A full UK driving licence is a necessity given the nature of the role with travel
    Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge The O&M Project Manager would suit someone who has:  
  • Prior Senior Management experience within the O&M Team of a Power Station (ideally EfW) – those with significant Operations/Engineering Management will also be considered
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Good financial and commercial acumen
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience

Shift Operations Technician

Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Energy company to recruit a Shift Operations Technician for their Energy from Waste Power Station in Croydon, South London.      The Shift Operations Technician role comes with starting salary of c.£42,500 + c.£6,000 shift allowance + c.£5,000 London weighting allowance + up to 10% bonus + overtime + private medical + benefits.   If you have experience operating heavy process plant via a DCS/SCADA system and are looking to work for a company who invest in professional development of their employees, then submit your CV to apply today.                    Responsibilities and duties Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, you will be responsible for:  
  • Using a DCS system, you will be required to start, stop and monitor the steam turbine, steam boilers, pumps, water treatment plant and more
  • Ensuring the plant is operating within its parameters whilst complying with strict HSE rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures
  • Performing plant walk round and daily checks to ensure equipment is operating correctly and efficiently
  • Monitoring of continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS) and perform corrective adjustments to the process when required
  • Providing technical supervision and assistance where necessary for company and contract staff
  • Working within the company Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems
    Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:  
  • A relevant technical qualification such as an HNC/ONC/NVQ in an engineering discipline is desirable
  • Having authorised person / senior authorised person qualifications will be advantageous
  • A health and safety qualification will be advantageous but not a necessity
    Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge The Shift Operations Technician role would suit someone who has:  
  • Operations / Maintenance experience gained within a heavy process engineering environment such as power generation, paper mills, COMAH sites, steel works, cement, pharmaceutical, etc.
  • Experience in operating a DCS/SCADA system
  • Familiar with safety rules procedures

  • A guaranteed remuneration of c.£53,000 (inclusive of shift and London weighting allowances)
