Astutes Power Team are recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support a fleet of Biomass and Energy from Waste Power Stations across the United Kingdom. Working within the centralised Engineering Team, you’ll be responsible for delivering electrical engineering expertise across the full lifecycle of the portfolio, this includes concept development and proposals, to detailed design, execution, commissioning and service modifications. You will act as the senior electrical authority on assigned projects supporting the plant performance, reliability and long term maintainability. Responsibilities and duties: As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Develop and continuously improve electrical maintenance systems, processes, and practices across the UK fleet.
• Provide electrical engineering support during planned outages, major maintenance activities, and critical operational interventions.
• Drive improvements in plant reliability, maintainability, and overall operational performance.
• Undertake technical surveys, inspections, condition assessments, and investigations to identify opportunities for reliability and maintenance improvements.
• Support and deliver electrical upgrade, modification, and improvement projects across operational power plants.
• Provide day-to-day electrical technical support across the UK power plant fleet, including remote troubleshooting, fault finding, inspections, and technical guidance.
• Develop technical specifications, coordinate technical activities with contractors and suppliers, and support the implementation of effective electrical engineering solutions.

Professional qualifications

• We are looking for someone with the following:
• Ideally a degree in a related Engineering field such as Electrical Engineering
• Holder of NEBOSH or at least IOSH in Health & Safety (or similar).
• Member of a recognised Engineering institution such as Chartered (or working towards)

Personal skills The Senior Electrical Engineer role would suit someone with:

• Extensive knowledge of legislation relating to electrical assets as well as Safe Systems of Work, Safety Rules & Permit to Work Systems.
• Experience working with High Voltage, Medium Voltage and Low Voltage systems, including transformers, generators, switchgear , UPS and protection systems
• At least three years supervisory experience in a relevant Engineering / Fleet / Asset position
• Experience with solid fuel plants such as Energy from Waste or Biomass – other forms of Power Generation will be considered
• Experience managing projects & outages

Electrical Field Service Engineer - Industrial Engineering

We are recruiting for an Electrical Field Service Engineer to join a company who provide maintenance solutions and technical support to large process plants including Power Stations, CHP Plants, Petrochemical and Aggregate Production Facilities. The role involves travelling to various sites in the Essex and East London area and providing technical support on the maintenance and overhaul of equipment

 

Roles & Responsibilities

As the Electrical Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• The maintenance, repair and overhaul on a variety equipment such as; Motors, Control Panels, Actuators, Transformers, Conveyors and Generators, etc
• Ensuring the maintenance reports and logs are kept up to date
• Ensuring maintenance activities are carried out within defined budgets
• Diagnosing and fault finding of electrical problems
• Ensuring compliance to all health & safety & legal requirements
• Representing the company in a professional manner
• Working as part of a call out rota

 

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• City & Guilds/ONC/HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline
• CompEx trained would be highly desirable
• Servicing and Maintenance experience within similar heavy process industries such as Power Generation, Steel, Cement Works, Paper Mill etc.
• Experience and knowledge of HV systems would be beneficial
