• Work alongside Environmental Team to provide data & reports for emissions reporting and energy efficiency schemes. 

    Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:

• Ideally a degree in Mechanical Engineering working towards or having already achieved chartership.
• BOAS certified would be advantageous
• IOSH or NEBOSH or similar in Health & Safety would be advantageous

    Personal skills The Utilities Manager role would suit someone who:

• At least five years operations experience on a steam raising plant, in a similar heavy industrial setting such as power generation, CHP, refineries etc.
• Able to prioritise and coordinate work activities based on operational needs.
• Ability to gain technical knowledge to support safe and efficient work practices.
• Proven experience delivering an engineering / operations strategy, with budgetary and project experience.

Astutes Power Team are working with a leading Waste Management orgisation who own & operate a number of Energy from Waste Power Stations across the UK. Their facility, in Lincoln is capable of processing up to 190,000 tonnes of waste per year producing circa 11MW of power via a Steam Turbine Generator. We are looking for an EC&I Technician to join the maintenance team, working days, to provide preventative and reactive maintenance support to all electrical, control system & instrumentation assets. This would suit someone with an electrical bias, specifically with High Voltage experience (11kv) with knowledge of C&I plant.     Personal skills The EC&I Technician would suit someone with:

• Experience on equipment such as motors, drives, actuators, transmitters, PLC’s, temperature / flow / pressure, control systems, HMI’s etc.
• Experience in managing sub-contractors would be advantageous.
• Able to do manual lifting and working at heights or confined spaces.
• The ideal candidate would be competent working on 11kv High Voltage plant including transformers and switchgear.

Electrical Engineer – Energy from Waste Power Station Kent Competitive Salary + bonus + benefits

 

Introduction

We are currently recruiting an Electrical Engineer to join the maintenance department of a large Energy from Waste plant in Kent. This plant can produce up to 45MW of Power by processing up to 550,000 tonnes of waste per year, usually destined for landfill. The Electrical Engineer will play an integral part in ensuring the plants electrical systems are maintained and in working order to ensure maximum plant availability.  

What will I be doing? 

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, typical duties will include:

• Leading and managing a team of electrical technicians to ensure the plant is maintained to the highest standard to ensure maximum plant availability
• Holding the position of Senior Authorised Person (SAP) working on both LV and HV electrical systems
• Scheduling, planning and optimising all electrical maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner
• Supervising and directing contractors.
• Working closely with the operations department to assess and review plant performance shortfalls and how these can be rectified
• Assisting in the setting up and development of the sites Computerized Maintenance Management System
• Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner and in line with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies. 

 

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Ideally a recognised qualification in electrical engineering at HND/HNC/ONC level or equivalent
• Extensive knowledge and experience with a range of electrical plant including HV switchgear, transformers, motors, generators and variable speed drives etc
