Astute’s Team is partnering with a leading service company to recruit a Mechanical Supervisor to oversee complex field projects, manage teams, and ensure high-quality, safe delivery of mechanical scopes.
As Mechanical Supervisor, you'll lead a team of skilled engineers delivering maintenance projects, outages, plant upgrades, inspections, and installation works on industrial clients across the Essex, Kent and London Areas. Working across power stations, energy-from-waste plants, and other industrial sites, you'll be the on-the-ground lead — ensuring project success through strong leadership, exceptional planning, and professional communication with clients.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Supervisor role
Reporting to the Mechanical Director, you will be responsible for:

Supervise and coordinate mechanical engineers on-site, ensuring safe and effective delivery of work scopes.

Providing engineering solutions when immediate spares aren't available (retrofitting, reverse engineering or modifying equipment)

Take ownership of project execution, including HSE, quality assurance, budget oversight, and deliverables.

Plan, organise, and resource field service projects including outages and shutdowns.

Maintain clear, professional communication with clients and internal stakeholders.

Identify opportunities within current customers to bid for additional work to further grow the business and add value to the relationship.

Ensure compliance with company and site-specific safety and quality standards.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:

Time Served Apprenticeship in a Mechanical Engineering field

Strong experience working with rotating equipment such as Steam Turbines, Gas Turbines and associated equipment
-
Experience working in a heavy process environment such as a power station, refinery, chemical plant or paper mill.

As this is a field based role, a full UK driving licence is a necessity
Personal skills
The Mechanical Supervisor role would suit someone who has:

Extensive experience in a technical capacity as a Supervisor or Team Leader

Industry relevant experience working on heavy mechanical industrial plant

Business knowledge to identify opportunities to maximise revenue
