Astute's Power Team are looking for an EC&I (Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation) Technician to join a large, brand new Energy from Waste Power Station located in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. The facility, which is shortly entering the commissioning phase, will provide a vital outlet for the sustainable disposal of over 500,000 tonnes of residual waste per year and will generate up to 49.9 megawatts of low carbon energy - enough electricity to meet the needs of over 75,000 homes. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the EC&I Supervisor in performing pre-planned and reactive maintenance of all EC&I assets on site. Responsibilities and duties of the Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Technician role: Reporting directly to the EC&I Supervisor as an EC&I Technician, you will be responsible for:
  • Pre-planned and reactive maintenance duties on all electrical, controls and instrumentation assets across the power station
  • Fault finding/maintaining mostly electrical system; motors, drives, single phase & three phase equipment, switchgear, high/low voltage plant etc. and Instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level & flow) and control systems
  • Calibrating instrumentation
  • Conducting continuous improvement activities, plant modifications and design work
  • Supervising 3rd party contractors
  • Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
  • Assisting in plant developments and projects
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site CMMS
  • Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination.
  • To ensure the availability of plant spares
Professional qualifications We are looking for someone with the following:
  • Ideally qualified in a recognised Electrical / C&I apprenticeship in a heavy process industry
  • A relevant technical qualification such as an NVQ / ONC / HNC in Electrical, Control or Instrumentation engineering or a similar discipline
  • IOSH or NEBOSH would be advantageous
Personal skills The EC&I Technician role would suit someone who has:
  • At least 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience with motors, switchgear, instrumentation (flow, level, pressure, temperature etc) and control systems (SCADA, DCS and PLC)
  • Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc. Royal Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered.
  • Experience with High-Voltage equipment such as transformers / switchgear will be advantageous.

We are recruiting for an Electrical Field Service Engineer to join a company who provide maintenance solutions and technical support to large process plants including Power Stations, CHP Plants, Petrochemical and Aggregate Production Facilities. The role involves travelling to various sites in the Essex and East London area and providing technical support on the maintenance and overhaul of equipment

 

Roles & Responsibilities

As the Electrical Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • The maintenance, repair and overhaul on a variety equipment such as; Motors, Control Panels, Actuators, Transformers, Conveyors and Generators, etc
  • Ensuring the maintenance reports and logs are kept up to date
  • Ensuring maintenance activities are carried out within defined budgets
  • Diagnosing and fault finding of electrical problems
  • Ensuring compliance to all health & safety & legal requirements
  • Representing the company in a professional manner
  • Working as part of a call out rota

 

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:
  • City & Guilds/ONC/HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline
  • CompEx trained would be highly desirable
  • Servicing and Maintenance experience within similar heavy process industries such as Power Generation, Steel, Cement Works, Paper Mill etc.
  • Experience and knowledge of HV systems would be beneficial
