Mechanical Engineer

We require a degree qualified (ideally) Mechanical Engineer to join their Engineering Department to support the development of the strategic elements and resilience of the business. They will plan and develop major outage projects as well as provide technical support to the Maintenance Team when required to help maintain high plant availability. Ideally, you’ll be degree qualified and familiar with LTSA agreements, Steam Boilers, PSSR legislation and have proven supervisory experience in managing a team. The plant is capable of processing 750,000 tonnes of waste per annum and through utilising the River Thames and its own barge fleet is able to remove 100,000 truck movements off of London’s roads every year. Introduction

We are currently recruiting an Electrical Engineer to join the maintenance department of a large Energy from Waste plant in Kent. This plant can produce up to 45MW of Power by processing up to 550,000 tonnes of waste per year, usually destined for landfill. The Electrical Engineer will play an integral part in ensuring the plants electrical systems are maintained and in working order to ensure maximum plant availability.  

What will I be doing? 

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, typical duties will include:
  • Leading and managing a team of electrical technicians to ensure the plant is maintained to the highest standard to ensure maximum plant availability
  • Holding the position of Senior Authorised Person (SAP) working on both LV and HV electrical systems
  • Scheduling, planning and optimising all electrical maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner
  • Supervising and directing contractors.
  • Working closely with the operations department to assess and review plant performance shortfalls and how these can be rectified
  • Assisting in the setting up and development of the sites Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner and in line with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies. 

 

Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:
  • Ideally a recognised qualification in electrical engineering at HND/HNC/ONC level or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with a range of electrical plant including HV switchgear, transformers, motors, generators and variable speed drives etc

This role is a combination of 8 hour days and 12 hour days starting Friday 10th April and completing Monday 11th May.  The Stores Worker role comes with an Umbrella rate of £17 per hour.                   Key skills
  • Move inventory and materials across facilities
  • Sort, organize and store inventory in the proper location

The plant, currently under construction, is capable of processing up to 350,000 tonnes of waste per year, producing power for up to 70,000 homes. This new build Power Station is due to enter commercial operation by the end of 2026. Now is an ideal time to join the power station as you’ll be involved in full plant commissioning, training & mobilisation. We are looking for a Shift Team Leader to join the Operations Team on this brand new facility. As the Shift Team Leader you’ll be involved in the supervision of the Operations Team including Shift Operators and Fuel Operators ensuring safe & efficient operation of the plant. There will be a focus on improving efficiency & plant performance to meet contractual obligations in terms of availability & power production.
