Responsibilities and duties of the Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant roleReporting to the Water Services Lead, you will:
Prepare Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, and other planning support documents
Contribute to SuDS design and prepare technical drawings and drainage plans
Assist with due diligence reviews for investors and developers, offering practical risk mitigation advice
Analyse and present spatial data using GIS tools (e.g., QGIS)
Collaborate with planning and environmental teams across the business
Contribute to projects in related areas such as nutrient neutrality and climate risk assessments
Work towards professional accreditation and broaden your technical capabilities
We are looking for someone with the following:
A degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or a similar field (or equivalent experience)
Around 2–4 years of experience in flood risk or drainage consultancy
Familiarity with UK planning policy, SuDS principles, and relevant environmental legislation
Experience using QGIS or similar GIS software
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Eagerness to develop professionally and contribute to a team environment

Description of the assignment
Purpose of the job
The Senior Building Services Engineer defines and distributes the scope of work to ensure that the project is executed safely, on time and at appropriate levels of quality. The Senior Building Services Engineer is responsible for the delivery of design and engineering to meet the requirements technical specification.
Key Accountabilities
· Development of designs and documentation to satisfy the technical specification,
· Production of design deliverables throughout the design process,
· Checking/approval of discipline specific design deliverables,
· Contribution to design reviews and safety reviews,
· Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process,
· Compliance with safety legislation, industry codes and standards and statutory regulations,
· Develop cost effective technical solutions,
· Staff development,
· Managing safety by developing and reinforcing the safety culture,
· Management of contractors,
· Provide technical consultancy,
· Provide support during Site surveys, installation and commissioning.
Occupational Skills and Knowledge
· Degree qualified in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience,
· Working towards, or already have, Chartership in a discipline specific engineering institution.
Duties and Requirements
Essential
· Strong understanding of the fundamentals within your engineering discipline,
· Previous experience in the design of Building Services (inc: Ventilation & Piped Services),
· Proven track record of successfully delivering design solutions,
· Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations,
· Strong organisational and interpersonal skills,
· Good level of commercial awareness,
· Experience of leading design teams,
· Experience of managing sub-contracts,
· Experience of bid preparation.
· Experience working on design substantiation or period reviews of safety
· Experience writing Design Assessment Reports (DARs)
Desirable
· Full membership of a discipline specific engineering institution and CEng status,
· Knowledge of Design software capability and outputs,
· Experience of Containment and process ventilation systems,
· Experience of Design and Engineering substantiation,
· Construction Site experience,
· Experience of working in the Nuclear industry or other highly regulated industry.
