Role Overview

We are seeking an ambitious and technically credible Business Development Manager to identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across our core and emerging markets. You’ll work closely with the estimating, engineering, and project delivery teams to grow key accounts and develop partnerships that drive revenue and long-term growth.

This is a client-facing, solution-led role for someone who understands infrastructure, appreciates technical detail, and can navigate both public and private sector procurement environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • New Business Generation

    • Identify and target new clients across telecoms, energy, rail, highways, and water sectors. • Build and manage a robust sales pipeline using market intelligence and lead generation strategies.
  • Client Relationship Management

    • Develop long-term relationships with key decision-makers (engineers, procurement teams, framework leads). • Represent FLI Structures at client meetings, industry events, and trade shows.
  • Bid and Proposal Support

    • Work with the estimating and commercial teams to develop competitive, high-quality proposals. • Lead client presentations and negotiations with a focus on value engineering and technical differentiation.
  • Market Intelligence

    • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, regulatory shifts, and customer needs to shape business strategy. • Identify opportunities in renewables, flood defences, and emerging infrastructure projects (e.g. 5G, Net Zero).
  • Account Growth

    • Maintain and expand business with existing clients through strategic account management. • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience

    • 5+ years of business development or technical sales experience in construction, civils, or infrastructure (ideally in steelwork, piling, or telecoms/energy sectors). • Strong understanding of B2B sales cycles and public procurement/tendering processes.
  • Education

    • Degree or HND in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business (or equivalent work experience).
  • Skills & Attributes

    • Proven ability to build rapport with technical and commercial stakeholders. • Technically curious, commercially sharp, and self-driven. • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. • Proficient with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and presentation tools.
