What You'll Do

As a Freight Forwarding Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
  • Managing end-to-end ocean import and export operations, including procurement, documentation, customs clearance, and delivery coordination.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for clients from quotation to billing, ensuring excellent service and clear communication.
  • Ensuring all regulatory requirements are met and proper documentation — transit documents, customs clearances, invoices — are accurate and timely processed.
  • Overseeing shipment pick-up, transfer, and delivery activities with internal teams and external partners.
  • Preparing and verifying shipping documents such as arrival notices, bills of lading, and customs declarations with precision.
  • Maintaining and developing effective procedures to ensure safety, organization, and efficiency within the operations team.
  • Managing and mentoring staff, supporting onboarding, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Monitoring vendor fees and service quality, and regularly evaluating and selecting trusted partners.
  • Assisting in preparing quotations and generating reports for clients to ensure transparency and satisfaction.
  • Staying updated on Incoterms, export compliance, AES, and ISF filing procedures to ensure adherence to all regulations.
  • Contributing to the financial health of the department by helping with P&L management and billing accuracy.

What You'll Bring

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
  • At least 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience in NVOCC operations, with a strong focus on ocean and air freight import/export.
  • Deep knowledge of customs regulations, documentation, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in CargoWise or similar freight management software is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to handle frequent client interactions confidently.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze situations, anticipate issues, and implement effective solutions proactively.
  • Familiarity with export compliance, AES, ISF filings, and documentation requirements.
  • Bachelor's Degree is a plus but not mandatory.
