Our client have several live projects within the energy sector in the UK and overseas, so there may be an opportunity to work across more projects with them. Role Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates leadership and commitment to HSEQ. Actively encourages and leads this for the project.
  • Ensures that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management, HSE and commissioning team, HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
  • Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS
  • Is responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under his control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised
  • Prepares and issues Permits to Work and system isolations for works within the shift, Mechanical, Process and Electrical (HV and LV preferable SAP authorization)

  • Main responsibility will be to work within a multi-disciplined team carrying out Rigging duties as specified. 
  • They are responsible for aligning and anchoring the machinery, attaching loads, controlling the movement of heavy equipment, and ensuring the rigging is safe for use.
  • Working closely with the Health and Safety professionals on site to coordinator planned lifting of heavy equipment.
  • Assemble temporary equipment such as scaffolding, Pre-cast fascades and other temporary works alongside the TWC coordinator on site.

  • Hands-on commissioning of mechanical/process components and systems such as, fuel supply system, firefighting and fire protection systems, cooling, water systems and HVAC
  • Carrying out and managing piping networks cleaning using various methods such as pigging, air blowing, flushing, etc.
  • Carrying out testing on mechanical systems and equipment, as well as system optimization and troubleshooting and filling-in the respective commissioning documentation and protocols

  • Focus on developing and updating commissioning and start-up planning deliverables for company.
  • Manage, prepare, execute and/or monitor preparation, planning, and execution of systems completion activities by site teams and contractors.

  • Lead and coordinate all electrical commissioning activities across the project, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution.

  • Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules in alignment with the overall project commissioning strategy.

  • Supervise and oversee electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning works, including LV/MV/HV systems, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, UPS, and control systems.

  • Manage and coordinate interfaces between electrical systems and other process areas, including boiler, steam turbine, flue gas treatment (FGT), crane systems, and DNO connection.

The Role We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join the end Client on the new build Waste to Energy facility based on the Isle of Wight. Our Client is a leading engineering and operations specialist in the renewable energy field, who are constantly growing in the UK market as a leading Client.

As Mechanical Commissioning Engineer, you will bring demonstrable commissioning experience and practical skills to the commissioning team. Working closely with the Commissioning Manager, you will be responsible for planning, executing and documenting of commissioning and handover activities on the project and programme of works in a safe manner, fully in accordance with company processes, systems, procedures and specifications. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Working in collaboration with the construction team, ensuring that mechanical commissioning activities are planned safely and to required quality standards and specifications
  • Providing appropriate support throughout the commissioning phase of the project
  • Updating of commissioning documentation including site reports and assisting with O&M manuals
  • Carrying out and recording of all commissioning tests
  • Liaising with onsite subcontractors where necessary
  • Reporting to the Commissioning Manager and updating relevant personnel on site progress 
  • Adhered to health and safety regulations and reporting any incidents appropriately.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Commissioning experience gained within Energy from Waste, Biomass, and Gasification projects.
