The Plant Operator positions come with a night shift rate from £400.00 to £500.00 outside of IR35. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:  
  • Operated and monitored synchronous condenser plant systems during commissioning, energisation, and normal operational activities, ensuring safe and efficient plant performance.
  • Experienced in the use of SCADA systems for plant monitoring, alarm management, trend analysis, switching activities, and fault identification across electrical generation and grid support systems.
  • Assisted commissioning and operations teams during start-up, shutdown, synchronisation, and performance testing activities for synchronous condenser and associated auxiliary systems.

The Role We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join the end Client on the new build Waste to Energy facility based on the Isle of Wight. Our Client is a leading engineering and operations specialist in the renewable energy field, who are constantly growing in the UK market as a leading Client.

As Mechanical Commissioning Engineer, you will bring demonstrable commissioning experience and practical skills to the commissioning team. Working closely with the Commissioning Manager, you will be responsible for planning, executing and documenting of commissioning and handover activities on the project and programme of works in a safe manner, fully in accordance with company processes, systems, procedures and specifications. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Working in collaboration with the construction team, ensuring that mechanical commissioning activities are planned safely and to required quality standards and specifications
  • Providing appropriate support throughout the commissioning phase of the project
  • Updating of commissioning documentation including site reports and assisting with O&M manuals
  • Carrying out and recording of all commissioning tests
  • Liaising with onsite subcontractors where necessary
  • Reporting to the Commissioning Manager and updating relevant personnel on site progress 
  • Adhered to health and safety regulations and reporting any incidents appropriately.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Commissioning experience gained within Energy from Waste, Biomass, and Gasification projects. 
  • Proven track record in a similar role and ability to communicate well at all levels
  • Ability to work well independently and as well as part of a team

Astute's Renewables Team are currently recruiting for a Project Manager to join the End Client on a large-scale Biogas plant based in Avonmouth. The role will commence from Mid-June for an 18 months. The role is outside of IR35.

The Project Manager position comes with a day rate from £500.00 to £600.00 outside of IR35. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:  
  • Lead and coordinate all day-to-day construction activities across the Avonmouth biogas facility, ensuring delivery against programme milestones, budget and quality standards.
  • Manage principal contractors, subcontractors and key supply chain partners to maintain safe, efficient and compliant site operations throughout the construction phase.
  • Monitor contractor progress against the master programme, identifying delays, risks and mitigation strategies to ensure project timelines are maintained.

The Site Manager (Solar) position comes with a day rate from £500.00 to £550.00 per day outside of IR35. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
  • Coordinate logistics with Project Manager and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
  • Conduct pre-construction site assessments and manage site setup, including temporary facilities, temporary access roads, and laydown areas.
  • Lead and manage on-site subcontractor teams ensuring efficient workflows for timely completion.
  • Supervise all construction activities, including but not limited to: delivery logistics and materials distribution, groundworks, civil works, structure installation, module mounting, electrical and earthing works, commissioning, site reinstatement
  • Collaborate with Principal Designer during the development of the Risk Register during pre-construction, and ensure a smooth handover when construction starts.

  • Demonstrates leadership and commitment to HSEQ. Actively encourages and leads this for the project.
  • Ensures that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management, HSE and commissioning team, HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable
  • Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS
  • Is responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under his control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised
  • Prepares and issues Permits to Work and system isolations for works within the shift, Mechanical, Process and Electrical (HV and LV preferable SAP authorization)

The HSE Advisor position comes with a day of £400.00 per day Outside IR35. Key Skills and responsibilities for the HSE Advisor position:

• Support the delivery of all Health, Safety and Environmental activities across the converter station construction project, ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements and UK legislation.
