The Payroll Administrator comes with a salary from £30,000 to £35,000 per year. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
  • Process end-to-end payroll for weekly and monthly staff, including site-based and office employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Administer payroll for a mix of PAYE staff, contractors, and potentially CIS workers in line with UK regulations
  • Calculate and process statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP, and pensions auto-enrolment contributions
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new starters, leavers, salary changes, and project assignments
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements, including RTI submissions, tax code updates, and year-end processes (P60s, P11Ds where applicable)
  • Liaise with HR and project teams to ensure accurate capture of timesheets, overtime, allowances, and site-based uplift payments

Astute's Power team are currently recruiting for a Project Finance Controller to join the EPC Contractor to oversee and manage the costs across 2 Converter Stations in Durham and Torness. This role is a fixed term contract position for 24 months.

The Project Finance Controller position comes with a salary from £55,000 to £70,000 plus company benefits. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
  • Oversee full financial governance and performance across two concurrent EPC projects (Durham and Torness), ensuring robust control of all project ingoings and outgoings.
  • Lead consolidated budget management, cost control, and forecasting, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial positions through to project completion.
  • Produce and present weekly and monthly financial reports using advanced Excel models and SAP, providing clear visibility to senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor actuals vs budget and forecast, identifying variances, trends, and financial risks, and proactively recommending corrective actions.
  • Take ownership of cash flow forecasting and working capital management, ensuring alignment with project milestones and commercial commitments.
  • Govern and approve contractor and supplier spend, ensuring all costs are validated against contractual terms, purchase orders, and approved budgets within SAP.
  • Control and track variations, change orders, and claims, ensuring all financial impacts are accurately assessed, captured, and reported.

The Accountant position comes with a salary ranging from £45,000 to £55,000. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and trial balance, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial records
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports in line with group reporting requirements and consolidation timelines
  • Manage SAP S/4HANA (Finance/FA module) activities, including postings, reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting
  • Oversee and coordinate the year-end and interim external audit process, acting as the main point of contact for auditors
  • Support group consolidation by preparing and submitting accurate financial data within strict deadlines
  • Liaise closely with the tax team to ensure compliance with UK tax regulations, VAT returns, and statutory requirements

Astute's Power team are currently recruiting for a Cost Controller to join the EPC Contractor to oversee and manage the costs across 2 power plants in construction in Eye & Bedfordshire. The role is a fixed term contract for 12 months.

The Cost Controller position comes with a salary from £45,000 to £50,000. Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:  
  • Manage and monitor project costs, budgets, and forecasts across two live EPC projects during the final construction and commissioning phases.

  • Maintain accurate cost reporting, including weekly and monthly cost reports for senior project and commercial management.

  • Track actual spend vs budget, identifying cost variances and providing recommendations to maintain financial control.

  • Work closely with project managers, commercial teams, and site teams to ensure cost data reflects real-time project activity.

  • Support forecasting and cash flow management, updating financial projections as projects move toward completion.

  • Review and validate contractor and supplier invoices, ensuring costs align with agreed contracts and project budgets.

  • Monitor and control change orders and variations, ensuring financial impacts are accurately captured and reported.
